Competition for financial aid, grants and scholarships is increasing dramatically due to the economic crisis and recession. To help high school students gain a significant advantage in using scores from their college admissions exams to more effectively compete for financial aid, ScorePlus - The Princeton Review has organized the National Testing and Career Counseling Day on June 25, 2011 at various locations throughout the UAE. The event will include a free, full-length SAT or ACT practice test along with Admission Counseling Seminar and a session with working professional.

Administered under actual testing conditions, the free practice test can be used by participants to assess their strengths and weaknesses across all subject areas on either the SAT or ACT. Test-takers will also be invited to attend a free Scores Back Session where they will receive a personalized, detailed score report that analyzes their performance section by section. A Princeton Review expert will review and explain the report and demonstrate unique approaches, techniques and strategies designed to improve scores.

Additionally, if students are unsure if they should take the SAT or the ACT, they can take a PRA (Princeton Review Assessment), which is designed to help students determine which test is better suited to their abilities as well as which they'll score higher on.

Taking a practice test is an important part of the preparation process because it removes a lot of the fear, worry and anxiety that accompanies the actual test. "It's a big stress reducer. A practice test also provides a measure of how you'll do on the exam, and just as importantly, what you need to - and can - do to improve your score. The difference between having an average score and a good score on an exam like the SAT or ACT is often determined by your understanding of what the test will be like, how long it takes, and the limits of the content.

One of the Princeton Review Admission Experts will present a seminar on Cracking into College. The Princeton Review Expert will share a few secrets about how to prepare an effective college application. The Seminar will be followed by sessions with experts from the industry who will talk about the respective fields they are currently working. The aim is to broaden the student's knowledge about the fields in order to help them make take a better decision about their career.
