Dubai: The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) – the first research and teaching institution focusing on governance and public policy in the Arab world, has announced that it has launched seven new training programmes under its Executive Education Smart Platform, with the tutorials formulated to provide future leaders with advanced knowledge, enhance their expertise, and inform them of the latest developments in various areas of government work.
This step forms part of MBRSG’s aim to transfer 50 percent of its educational programmes onto the Executive Education Smart Platform to provide an opportunity for leaders to participate effectively in online training, especially in light of the current coronavirus situation and in preparation for the future ‘New Normal,’ which is expected to see a greater emphasis on learning being undertaken remotely.
The new programmes on the platform comprise ‘Open Data’; ‘Reimagining the Role of Governments in Times of Crisis’; ‘The Ten Commandments of Governance’; ‘Institutional Agility in Government Administration’; ‘Innovation in Government Work’; ‘Future Foresight and Preparation for the next 50’; and ‘Digital Training’. The seven programmes add to ‘Strategic Leadership in a Challenging World’, which was the platform's first programme added in April this year.
H.E Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al-Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, affirmed that the school seeks to employ all its capabilities to develop its training programmes in a manner that keeps pace with various global changes in the field of smart education in order to provide an integrated educational experience by taking advantage of the electronic infrastructure enjoyed by the school and the UAE.
- E Dr. Al-Marri said: “The launch of the seven new training programmes on the Executive Education Smart Platform is a practical step that reflects our full commitment to smart transformation. The platform confers a number of educational advantages, such as providing students with the latest materials and giving them the opportunity to learn flexibly and remotely – important considerations in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic.”
“The smart platform reflects our vision towards developing the executive education mechanism in the school to enable us to easily reach a larger segment of government employees in the UAE and the Arab world. It is a valuable tool to help achieve the school’s strategic goals, which are to improve government performance, support government leaders, and keep our students informed of the latest global developments in the field of government administration,” he added.
Professor Raed Awamleh, Dean of MBRSG said: “Keeping abreast of the latest global changes in the field of government administration, policies and modern education methods is at the top of the school’s priorities. We are acutely aware that it is the provision of advanced scientific content attached to a forward-looking vision that provides solutions to government challenges in the UAE and the Arab region.”
“The new Executive Education Smart Platform’s training programmes further the vision of training and education for government employees and leaders in the UAE and the region. The platform and its content are characterised by flexibility and seek to extend the government employees’ experiences and illuminate matters related to modern government administration with topics being addressed including open data, crises and government agility. These new programmes represent a qualitative leap in the school’s continued progression,” he added.
The programmes under the Executive Education Smart Platform target leaders and employees of government entities in the UAE and the Arab World.
The “Open Data” programme is designed to explore the concept of open data, discuss how to manage it, review the best global practices in its field, identify the advantage of government open data and study its most important challenges.
The “Reimagining the Role of Governments in Times of Crisis” aims to help students to get a broad understanding of managing crises at the government level in light of the Covid-19 pandemic that has been disruptive and changed the status quo. Participants will also study future trends in government and learn how to prepare for the next 50 years.
The “Digital Training” programme aims to introduce the participants to the concept of digital training. They will learn how to benefit from big data, how to keep abreast of digital transformation in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and study the country's trends in digital transformation.
