Abu Dhabi, May 5th, 2014: As part of the mGovernment initiative announced by H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, mGovannounced the 'mGov for Students' event. The event took place on Saturday May 3at the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa and was aimed at providing a platform to educate students on the mGov initiative and offering students more information on the courses provided.

Over 50 students took part in this event from Khalifa University, Ajman University of Science and Technology, the University of Sharjah,UAEU and the Higher Colleges of Technology; and have learned how to equip themselves to secure a role inthe fast evolving world of mobile government.

"The ability to meet the demand to build apps andmobile service provisions that is being created by the UAEgovernment departments is critical to the success ofthe UAE's positioning at the forefront of mobilegovernment globally. University students should lead the way when it comes to app development required to deliver the required services to UAE citizens."commented H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Deputy Director General for Information and eGovernment Sector.

On his part, Engineer Majid Al Madhloum, Project Director of Mobile Government Training& Education said: "We are looking at students since they are the main segment in our community which will lead the efforts of developing applications for the provision of services required.We are in need of creative Emirati minds to inspire and trigger servicedelivery through mobile technology and would like to emphasize on the importance of supporting such talent to innovatewithin this sector.

The first session at the event,titled 'Managing Mobile Technology'helped students understandthe differentprocesses involved whensoliciting companies to buildmobile applications. The second session focused titled 'Express ApplicationDevelopment Class'introduced students to developing and producing simplemobile applications for multipleplatforms from the same set ofcode.The third session titled 'Mobile Security' focused on understanding the challenges facingan Android developer in terms ofbuilding code resistant to reverseengineering. The last session titled 'IT to Facilitate Success inMobile Delivery' used a guided process so students can build the conceptualarchitecture for the Youth SportsRegistration App.
