- Associates come together for annual fun and games on the beach

Dubai, UAE - Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa and Grosvenor House recently completed their annual team building programme. Set up 2001, the programme encourages hotel associates to become a highly motivated team who are able to work together to achieve the company's goals whilst retaining a positive, healthy work - life balance.

The team building activities took place over a period of three weeks, with each session lasting eight hours, encompassing 60 participants, ranging from the most junior associates to senior management. Each group consisted of a mix of associates from various departments to recreate the working environment and so that they would learn to work together by drawing upon the individuals skills of each team member in order to complete tasks.

"Our annual team building exercise is fundamental to the development and motivation of our associates. We always talk about the importance of collaboration, working while having fun, respect and support for one another and these team building days are geared around these fundamental values," commented Pam Wilby, general manager, Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa and Grosvenor House. "The team becomes stronger and happier as a result and we can face another year of high standard of services for our guests."

Activities are based on Starwood's core competencies which promote associates to resolve issues that are standing in the way of accomplishing goals, enhance communication skills, conflict management, understanding individual talents and helping to nurture these in to fruition. The training additionally encourages team members to work together in harmony, whilst pushing individuals to be assertive and proactive in their day to day work.

"This was my first Team Building and I did not know what to expect," stated Rita xx, from the Lobby Lounge. "The most important part of the training was that everyone was united and we received constant feedback and briefings. Associates from each hotel brought different ideas and ways of approaching different tasks which enhanced our learning experience."

This year the team building programme worked in conjunction with 'Drive the Vision', Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa and Grosvenor House motivational initiative which aims to instill pride in the associates and help maintain the hotels world class reputation.

"Drive the Vision & the team building programme emphasise the importance of collaboration, respect, fun and recognizing one another's achievements," added Pam Wilby. "Our hotel is home to 2000 associates who all make the hotels exceptionally unique in the world of hospitality. These programmes are our way to thank them for their daily dedication, made them proud of their colleagues and their teams and remind them of our friendly work atmosphere."
