Dubai, UAE, 9th November 2008: Over 150 families attended the JESS Secondary Open Day last week.  It gave prospective parents and students an opportunity to meet teaching staff, talk to students, view a range of activities, witness state-of-the-art facilities in operation and find out about life as a JESS Secondary School student. 

The Open Day's success was encapsulated in the comment of one mother, 'We came here unsure, but the decision was made today. What do we now need to do to make sure we get a place?' 

The Open Day gave families the opportunity to see one of the few non-profit making schools in Dubai, dedicated to fostering a community of caring, lifelong learners as well as providing an academic curriculum that develops a broad knowledge base, while promoting the skills of critical and creative thinking. JESS takes pride in the tradition and reputation of the School for pursuing the highest academic and personal standards.  The JESS community welcomed the opportunity to demonstrate this.

Visiting a working school is the only way to get a true impression of its feel and to assess if it is where students will excel and be happy.   Visiting families spoke of the positivity of the current students, their pride in the school and their impressive involvement in the Open Day.

Much interest was also shown in the presentations about the Sixth Form and the IB Diploma Programme opening in September 2009. Visitors met the professional and highly enthusiastic teaching staff who have been carefully selected from a wide variety of UK and international schools for their experience and motivation.  They also had the opportunity to view activities and demonstrations alongside the students in state of the art facilities. 

The Arabian Ranches site houses a wide range of facilities to enhance each student's academic life. From interactive whiteboards in every classroom to all the latest specialist and sporting facilities, JESS students have access to the very best.

JESS understands that school life is about the whole student experience and the families who attended the JESS Open Day discovered for themselves the school's determination to achieve the school motto; 'Achieving Excellence Together'.

Since the Open Day there have been numerous applications, especially for Year 7.  Following its success, the school plans to hold further information evenings for all parents interested in learning more about the Sixth Form IB Diploma which will be on offer at JESS from September 2009.*
