Dubai, 03 December 2007: InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the world's most global hotel company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Pal Ipacs as the new Director of Revenue Management in the Middle East and Africa.
His responsibilities will include developing pricing structures and revenue management strategies across all five of IHG's hotel brands in the Middle East & Africa - InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, Express by Holiday Inn and the newly launched Staybridge Suites.
"We are thrilled to welcome Pal Ipacs to the group," commented John Bamsey, Chief Operating Officer, InterContinental Hotels Group, Middle East and Africa. "He has a wealth of experience in revenue management within the hospitality industry and we're confident he'll prove to be a great asset."
"IHG is currently going through extensive expansion across all our brands in the Middle East and Africa, and Pal's knowledge of the region will be key to maximizing our business goals for each and every property in our portfolio," added Bamsey.
Ipacs began his hospitality career over 13 years ago in Budapest, Hungary, as Director of Room Reservations for an international hotel chain. After four years he moved to a property in Warsaw before embarking on a career in the Middle East after being promoted to Country Director of Revenue Management for Jordan.
In 2001 Ipacs was again promoted to Director of Market Strategy for Dubai and Doha Marriott Internatonal, before accepting the role of Area Director of Revenue Strategy, Middle East and Africa, a position he held for five years.
Commenting on his recent appointment, Ipacs said, "The Middle East and Africa is a very vibrant and diverse region with dynamic tourism and business travel opportunities - you can always count on a high-season somewhere!"
"My professional goal is to grow and enhance the group's revenue management for its existing properties as well as those that are in the pipeline," add Ipacs. "Revenue management is a relatively new discipline in the hospitality industry and I look forward to helping the group differentiate further from its competitors."
Ipacs has participated in several professional training courses including revenue analysis, negotiation, revenue management, revenue maximisation and business evaluation, all of which he is a certified trainer. He is also an avid squash player.
