Green and texture the buzz words at the must-attend show to discover new products and services from the international interior and exterior design world
The region's biggest and best design experience for professionals from the interiors and architecture worlds
Dubai, March 19, 2013
INDEX International Design Exhibition, the region's largest and longest running design and interiors exhibition, is shaping up for another successful edition. Since its inception 23 years ago, the show has attracted the world's leading interior designer brands, eager to showcase their latest products and designs to the regional architecture and design community. The premier interiors and design exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from Monday 20th till Thursday 23rd of May 2013.
Key trends identified for this year's show include the continued growth of green and environmentally-friendly products - including recycled and up-cycled objects and materials. In the lighting sector, the focus is made on specialized and custom made lighting and fittings. At this year's INDEX you will see a happy marriage of the well coveted classical decorative chandeliers with a modern contemporary twist. INDEX will also present modern home automation technologies, which are shaping new trends in the design sector. The geologist trend in the textile sector which focuses on organic and imperfections of geological textures, the science of nature and its quality also becomes very popular in the Middle East; as well as significant growth and demand for varied textural finishes across surfaces, including tiles and flooring.
Johnson Tiles, UK's leading manufacturer and importer of ceramic wall and floor tiles, will showcase a number of new products designed to respond to this trend. Commenting on the company's participation, Darren Clanford, Johnson Tiles Creative Director, said: "INDEX always gets a big tick on our exhibition calendar, it's a great opportunity for us to truly demonstrate our creative capabilities and forward-thinking approach to modern surface design. It gives us the perfect platform to reveal our latest products and up-coming trends in a stimulating and exciting environment."
Running for the 23rd consecutive year, INDEX has established itself as the regional hub for the interior and fit-out industry; providing a yearly platform for designer, architects and companies to connect, to share their inspirations and innovations, and to grow their business. With the GCC construction industry well into recovery and the associated interior fit-out sector, in particular residential fit-outs, expected to rise by 17 per cent in 2013[1], INDEX International Design Exhibition will once again support the further development of the region's design industry.
INDEX will cover all interior and exterior designs sectors under one roof, occupying 20,000 square meters of exhibition space organized in seven product-specific show sections: Furnishing; Kitchen & Bathroom; Lighting; Outdoor Living; Objets; Surfaces & Finishes; and Textiles.
Coming from Austria, Lights of Vienna, is one of the major exhibitors in the INDEX Lighting section. The company's incredible chandeliers are hanging in some of the world's best known hotels, including Dubai's Burj Al Arab and the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and in public spaces such as the Dubai International Airport. Lights of Vienna will present some of it latest designs at the show, including the chandeliers designed for the 3rd expansion of the King Abdullah Bin Abdullaziz Project of Holy Haram in Makkah.
Also confirmed as exhibitor at the next edition of INDEX is Soher, a Spanish company specialised in manufacturing bronze items and high-end furniture for unique, upscale interiors. The company's creations grace many public areas all over the world, among them, the Equestrian Club in Abu Dhabi, the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Sydney and luxurious private residences in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
"The last edition of INDEX wrapped up with a seven per cent increase in visitors in comparison to 2011 edition and the figures for this year's show are looking very promising," commented Frederique Maurell, INDEX Event Director. "With over three months still to go before the exhibition starts, we have 90 per cent of the halls already booked. Visitors can expect a variety of exhibitors from different interior and exterior design sectors as well as from different part of the world, it will be a unique opportunity for those hunting for the very best and very latest in design."
