iGuzzini, in line with its longstanding commitment to valuable initiatives aimed at promoting sustainability in the region, is delighted to announce it will be among the sponsors of the Middle East Smart Lighting & Energy Summit 2013. The summit will be held under the patronage of the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City on 11-12 November 2013 at Jumeirah, Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi.
Sustainability is one of the key factors in the iGuzzini's mission and the attention and responsibility towards the environment is the backbone of the company's ethos. Since its inception iGuzzini, in accordance with its mission to encourage and promote a culture of good quality, has carried out an intense program which has led to fittings and lighting systems that use technology to contain the amount of energy to reduce pollution. Since the early '80s the company's communications campaigns have focused on the idea that the quality of a designed light is fundamental for contributing to the quality of the environment. In 2002 iGuzzini also perfected a manifesto of the Better Light for a Better Life philosophy whereas the central idea is that of the need to improve the quality of the environment and therefore the quality of life for ourselves, the people who live in it.
The company is committed for Eco sustainability in many ways: not only for products, but also for the developments of new offices and showrooms all over the world and for a productive system with low environmental impact.
With this in mind, iGuzzini is delighted to support all those valuable initiatives which can help the industry and its key players across the region taking further steps towards the implementation of practices and standards for achieving higher efficiency in the lighting sector.
After supporting the event in its first edition in 2012, iGuzzini has decided to renew its committment to the Summit as it has proved to be a credible educational and cultural platform to share ideas with the main experts in the industry, explore new practices and discuss the best ways to develop and implement intelligent lighting solutions to respect the environment. This initiative represents also a valuable opportunity to get a deeper insight on the numerous cutting-edge projects which are currently being undertaken in the Middle East.
The event, opened by Martin Valentine, Lighting Expert at Abu Dhabi City Municipality, who will preview the future sustainable lighting strategies, will attract over 300 of the region's senior lighting designers and architects, government authorities and regulators, engineers, planners, developers and sustainability consultants and will see presentations from key influencers in the lighting industry including Mohammad Ahmad Al Mulla, Director of Metrology at the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, Salem al Qassimi and Dr. Simon Miller of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity, Ed Ebrahimian, Director of Los Angeles City Street Lighting Bureau, and world-renowned lighting designer Mark Major of Speirs + Major.
The Summit will also introduce the newly established Middle East Lighting Association that will provide support to regulatory authorities and lighting manufacturers.
