HP Converged Infrastructure supports business-critical applications
DAMMAM, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, July 11, 2011 - HP today announced that AlMajdouie Group, the largest integrated transportation and logistics service provider in the Middle East, has selected HP Converged Infrastructure to provide a stable, highly reliable platform for increased business efficiency and growth.
AlMajdouie Group is a multi-business corporation covering Logistics & Supply Chain Management services -supporting oil& gas, petrochemical and heavy industries worldwide,- among other sectors such as Automotive, Manufacturing (Steel Industries), Food (Bakeries and Cafe' chains), Specialized Training and Real Estate & Investment. As part of the corporate drive to achieve operational excellence across its diverse operations, AlMajdouie Group selected HP Converged Infrastructure, including servers, storage, backup and services, to provide a resilient, flexible environment for critical applications like Oracle ERP. The new infrastructure will increase efficiency by automating the company's business processes for more effective data management.
AlMajdouie has deployed HP StoreOnce Backup Systems, HP EVA 6400 Enterprise Virtual Arrays and HP LTO Ultrium tape to provide an easily managed end-to-end data storage solution. HP StoreOnce Backup Systems streamline AlMajdouie's data protection by eliminating redundant information, which saves storage space and cost. Using deduplication technology invented at HP Labs, the company's central research arm, HP StoreOnce Backup Systems reduce the amount of data that needs to be stored by up to 95 percent(1).
HP EVAs and HP ProLiant DL980 G7/DL320 G6 servers ensure that data is readily available to AlMajdouie's critical business applications, including Oracle ERP. For secure long-term data protection, an HP Ultrium Tape Library automatically creates backup tapes for off-site archival and easy retrieval in the event of a disaster. AlMajdouie's HP Converged Infrastructure is easily scalable to provide extra storage and server capacity on an as-needed basis. Ongoing efficiency, performance and reliability are supported by HP Technology Services over the next 5 years.
"HP is providing a complete hardware infrastructure to deliver the performance, availability and scalability we need for the automation of all our business models," says Ihab Hawari, IT Manager, AlMajdouie Group. "The second-generation HP StoreOnce devices will give us a rapid restore capability for disaster recovery, and the HP EVAs and servers are scalable enough to respond to our business needs over the coming years."
"HP is happy to partner with Al-Majdoie on this transformational project that will take them to new stratosphere of competitive advantages utilizing state of the art technologies from HP," said Ali Al Tamimi - Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking Business Director, HP Saudi Arabia.
HP Converged Infrastructure is a core element of an Instant-On Enterprise. In a world of continuous connectivity, the Instant-On Enterprise embeds technology in everything it does to serve customers, employees, partners and citizens with everything they need, instantly.
