Doha: Under the patronage of the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) will host the Second Qatar International Wound Management Conference 2017 from 23 to 25 November at the Qatar National Convention Center.
The details of the conference were announced during a press conference today by Dr. Yousef Al Maslamani, Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital and Chairman of the Conference’s 2017 Scientific Committee. Commenting on the event, he said: “We are proud to build on the success of last year’s conference by hosting this event for a second consecutive year. By bringing together leading healthcare experts, we can expand on our learnings from last year and highlight the most recent innovations in wound care best practice to deliver even higher-quality care to our patients.”
According to Dr. Al Maslamani, there is a growing demand for HMC’s wound care services due to a steady growth in Qatar’s population and consequently an increase in incidences of chronic diseases and other serious illnesses. This is in addition to complications or infections that may result after surgery. He said, these factors have generated an even greater need to develop knowledge and explore the latest innovations in the field of wound care.
“We are proud of the success of our specialized multi-disciplinary wound care service. It has worked harmoniously across our network of hospitals to ensure patients are receiving the safest, most effective, and most compassionate care. We will take advantage of the knowledge and experience shared at this year’s conference to ensure our service is the best that it can be,” said Dr. Al Maslamani.
Further details about this year’s conference were announced by Ms. Shaikha Ali Al Qahtani, Director of Nursing for Wound Care at HMC and Chair of the Conference’s Organizing Committee, Mr.Hassan Al-Hail, Executive Director of Media and Public Relations at HMC, event organizer and sponsor Mr. Eng. Ammar Anabtawi, CEO of Final Vision and Dr. Thaher Beshtawi, Medical Manager at Qatar Datamation Systems (QDS), the platinum sponsor.
According to Ms. Al Qahtani, this year’s conference theme: ‘Modernization and Innovations in Wound Care,’ aims to highlight current practices in wound care while examining innovative clinical procedures and medical technologies that can be used by healthcare practitioners to enhance common approaches to treating chronic wounds.
Ms. Al Qahtani added that the three-day conference is expected to attract 1,500 healthcare professionals from a number of organizations across Qatar and the region, as well as renowned international speakers. As part of the conference agenda, attendees will explore a range of topics including the latest technologies, devices, and products used in the field.
“We have organized an extensive and comprehensive program that I am confident will provide an excellent basis for information sharing and learning among attendees on a range of wound care topics,” said Ms. Al Qahtani. “We are very proud to be able to hold this important conference annually and would like to thank Final Vision for their hard work in helping us organize this event along with all of the local and international companies who have sponsored our conference this year.”
Eng. Ammar Anabtaei, CEO of Final Vison said, “This year’s conference is attracting a great number of sponsors and we have confirmed 20 event companies who will participate in the exhibition accompanying the conference.”
Dr. Thaher Beshtawi added, “QDS is always at the forefront of supporting medical conferences in the country and we are honored that Hamad Medical Corporation gave us the opportunity to be a platinum sponsor of this year’s conference.”
Wound care has evolved into a modern and advanced medical specialization aimed at providing a quality medical service that contributes to the healing of serious and chronic wounds to avoid dangerous complications.
HMC established its specialized Wound Care Unit in 2009 at Hamad General Hospital. To date, the service has provided care for almost 10,000 patients.
