March 29, 2003 (Khobar, Saudi Arabia) GulfNet Solutions, a leading provider of innovative Internet and Intranet solutions and services, announced today that it is has completed the development of the Ar-Riyadh Development Authority's (ADA) Intranet. The Intranet was developed using the latest Intranet solutions insuring ease of use, maintainability and that information can be accessed with minimal number of clicks.
"The Intranet was setup so that ADA employees can easily and quickly find information and also as a tool for knowledge transfer between ADA staff," said engineer Salah Bin Mohammed Alashaikh,
ADA Intranet Project manager. "The ADA project team was setup under the guidance of his Excellency ADA president engineer Abdullatif Bin Abdulmalik Alashaikh to gather and classify all documents and convert them into electronic format. The ADA team worked closely with our consulting partner GulfNet Solutions in every step of the project to complete the development the Intranet."
Mr. Al Alshaikh continued to say: "It is now possible for ADA employees to search in thousands of documents, maps and publications insuring that information can be easily found. This makes it easy for ADA employees to complete their tasks effectively with more productivity. The Intranet contains a daily updated ADA and Ar-Riyadh city news section, a bulletin board for employees to discuss work matters and is also linked to the high commission main library whereby employees can search for books and magazines. In addition, the Intranet links between the different ADA databases and provides access to an internal telephone directory and policy and guideline documents related to ADA."
"After thoroughly studying all the ADA Intranet requirements, we recommended the use of the Openshare Content Management Solution from Route4Italia," Said Amjad Sanad, GulfNet Solutions project manager. "Openshare is a scalable Content Management Solution that meets the ADA Intranet requirements. It allows non-technical staff to easily develop, publish and archive documents without the need to know any HTML. The built in security gives each user the access level allowing them to perform the tasks they are assigned to do within Openshare. Currently, 35 non-technical ADA employees develop, maintain, archive, and publish documents in the Intranet using the Openshare Content Management Solution supporting more than 200 file types."
The Openshare Document Profiler allows ADA users to classify and organize information. The process of information publishing is done by the Workflow module whereby the ADA system administrator can set a publishing plan ensuring that the content goes thorough the right approving channel before it is published to the Intranet server. The bulletin board was implemented using the Openshare Openboard module.

About Ar-Riyadh Development Authority (ADA)
Ar-Riyadh Development Authority is the entity responsible for the planning and development of Ar-Riyadh city from the economic, social, cultural, constructional and environmental aspects. It draws up plans and procedures aimed at elevating the standards of services and facilities provided for the city residents.
The Authority was founded by virtue of a decision rendered by the Council of Ministers on 29/5/1394H. Other rules and regulations were enacted to support the Authority's developmental and planning role as defined in Minister of Interior decision dated 20/1/1395H. Such rules and regulations incorporate high degree of flexibility in administration and financing, as well as a wide scope of powers and responsibilities.
The Council of Ministers issued a number of decisions to enable the Authority to carry out it's growing responsibilities. On 11/2/1420H, the Council of Ministers decided to give the Authority an additional duty to supervise and implement Ar-Riyadh infrastructure projects. On 2/9/1403H, another decision was released by the Council of Ministers to support the status of Ar-Riyadh Development Authority as an independent body, and assert it's position as a sole planner for the city. The decision also declared the incorporation of the Projects and Planning Department from within the Authority to assist in handling all development projects and related planning work and studies. Endowed with such a wide range of jurisdiction, which bypass the municipal powers in other Saudi cities, the Authority is still pursing the development programs of the city and work simultaneously with the entities concerned on the national level, to tackle all problems facing the process of development in the Kingdom whether in the cities or rural areas.
