...Global ports and marine sectors taking the lead on carbon management...
LONDON - Thursday 17th February 2011 - Greenstone Carbon Management, the global specialist carbon solutions company, has announced that it will be exhibiting at the GreenPort Logistics and Energy for Green Ports conferences, held in Venice during the 23rdand 24th February 2011. Greenstone Carbon Management will be showcasing their Acco2unt carbon management software which is already helping to reduce the complexity of carbon management for many ports and organisations in the marine sector. One of Greenstone's partners, The CarbonNeutral Company, a world leading provider of carbon reduction solutions, will also be at these events, providing advice on how ports can significantly reduce operational emissions.
The two conferences are being held to help decision maker's deal with sustainable environmental practice and will enable organisations to effectively implement the changes required to reduce their carbon emissions. The conferences will be co-located at Marittima, Terminal 103, Venice Passenger Terminal.
Matthew de Villiers, Chief Executive at Greenstone Carbon Management said; "Due to the scale of port operations - often in multiple global locations - managing carbon is a complex process and spreadsheets are simply not up to the task. We have been working with our port clients to simplify the process of accurate carbon management and as a result we have customised our Acco2unt software to measure the carbon emissions for port specific assets - from forklift trucks, to quayside cranes and welding equipment. By removing the challenges of data calculation, our clients such as DP World, are able to focus on analysing their emissions and prioritising where to focus their reduction efforts."
Charles Haine, Global Environment Manager, DP World and a customer of Greenstone Carbon Management said; "We recognise that our ability to monitor our carbon emissions will help drive continuous improvement in our sustainability efforts. Due to the complex nature of our diverse business operations, we looked for a professional and cost efficient solution that was easy to use and implement. There's no doubt that Greenstone's Acco2unt software has automated much of the manual process, which can be prone to human error. Our new approach has enabled us to quickly develop targeted reduction projects with greater focus, transparency and efficiency - and moving forward it's also given us the ability to compare performance across the business and drive on-going improvements."
