Egypt - Cairo, February 23rd, 2014
According to Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, 2013 was the most significant year for LTE development worldwide to date. More than 110 commercial LTE networks were launched, with multiple new data optimization technologies reaching maturity and seeing deployment. At the forefront of these developments, advances in antenna technologies for flexibly handling additional spectrum bands and enabling remote electrical tilt (RET), configuration and maintenance, took a substantial step forward.
2013 represented a milestone year for Huawei's antenna business, with more than 1.65 million Huawei antennas now deployed in over 155 countries for 360 operators on six continents. This high growth is attributed to breakthrough deployments in China, Russia and European countries, including the UK and France. In China, Huawei's multi-band ultra broadband antenna solution is being used to help build the country's new LTE network.
According to ABI Research, a leading market research and market intelligence firm, LTE is creating significant opportunities for mobile carriers, leading to a need for them to carefully consider their LTE antenna options to meet their long-term goals on capital expenditure. In a recently released reportLTE Antenna Design The Performance of Your Network, ABI analyzed the antenna marketplace and evaluated vendor companies within an "Innovation" versus "Implementation" matrix. All major LTE antenna vendors were evaluated in terms of innovation and technology capabilities including ultra-wide bandsupport for multiple spectrum bands, multiple input multiple output (MIMO), electric tilt, antenna dipole design, passive inter-modulation (PIM) minimization, and active antenna system (AAS). Huawei achieved high scores across all categories and, according to ABI, accounted for 20.7 percent of global LTE antenna shipments in 2013, ranking it second globally.
Zhou Taoyuan, President of Antenna and IBS for Huawei's Wireless Network Business Unit, said: "We consider ABI's evaluation of our market progress to be proof of our products' competitiveness. We will continue to provide our customers with high-quality and high-performance antenna solutions that satisfy their deployment requirements."
Huawei antennas are currently operating in some of the world's most extreme environmental conditions, from sub-zero polar regions and areas affected by persistent salt fog near oceans, to windy desertsand tropical rainforests.
