Dubai, 21 March 2009 -- Ginco General Contracting LLC, one of the UAE's largest construction companies, has been awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification, an internationally accepted quality management certification system, following a lengthy and rigorous assessment process by IMS Certification FZE (IMS).

The in-depth ISO assessment probed the Dubai-based company's key processes including customer relationship, supplier and project management, and business development.

The scope of Ginco's certification covers general contracting, construction and civil engineering.

Masood Gheyath, Ginco Managing Director, said that achieving the ISO 9001 certification is a testimony to the high standards of quality the company strives to achieve on all projects it works on.

"This recognition communicates to our customers and subcontractors that Ginco General Contracting constantly works to incorporate the very best practices and processes in its day-to-day work," he said.

Ginco General Manager, Jamal Abdul Fatah, added: "We are also committed to bringing the safety standards of all our sites in line with international regulations and are in the process of upgrading all sites to comply with the OHSAS 18001 international standard."

ISO 9001 is the most widely recognised quality benchmark across the world; it is globally recognised as a powerful tool for businesses to improve organisational efficiency and productivity while remaining cost-effective. In all instances where activities are critical to meeting customer requirements and enhancing customer satisfaction, ISO Certification commits the organisation to ensure fulfilment.

In its assessment of Ginco, IMS found that the company met and exceeded expectations in all ISO certification requirements. The results showed that the company's Quality Management System  (QMS), which comprises its policies, processes and procedures, is in accordance with key principles of IMS Certification, some of which include customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, process approach and ongoing quality improvement.

Ashwin Varma, Regional Manager of IMS Certification FZE representing the ISO certifying body, said that during its analysis IMS looked into the policies, processes and procedures of Ginco and found that the company was implementing its QMS in each department, across every project.

"We found that the company is setting a benchmark for its peers in the region's construction industry.

"With its practical procedures and QMS, we found Ginco to be in line with international standards and advised the company on ways to ensure its ability to constantly apply quality standards on future projects," Varma added.

IMS Certification is an independent International Certification Body accredited to assess and certify companies against ISO International Standards. IMS is externally assessed and accredited by the International Accreditation Agency, an international network which issues certification registrations in over 50 countries throughout the world.
