Manama, Bahrain: Helping expectant mothers in their journey to motherhood while enabling them to give birth with confidence, Bahrain Specialist Hospital will be conducting free antenatal classes from August 6th. The weekly sessions will cover a range of topics concerning pregnancy, labour, birth, skin care, caring for a new born, calming a crying baby to many others. The educative and informative sessions will be conducted by a team of Dietician, Paediatrician, Dermatologist and Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at the hospital, followed by a Fitness Session for the moms.

Binge eating during pregnancy leads to various health issues and children born from women who do not follow a balanced diet during pregnancy are more vulnerable to birth defects, obesity, diabetes and flawed or inadequate brain development. The sessions with the Dietician will focus on good nutrition during pregnancy and would answer questions linked to the subject. The classes with Paediatrician would cover issues related to new-born’s health, caring for the infant, etc., whereas the sessions with Gynaecologist will help alleviate concerns related to labour and delivery. The classes on skin-care will cover pregnancy-related skin problems while the antenatal exercises will keep the pregnant women fit during pregnancy and flexible for delivery.

The classes will be held every Tuesday of the week starting from August 6th and then on 13th, 20th and 27th August from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Bahrain Specialist Hospital Medical Library on the 1st Floor. The fitness sessions will be held at the physiotherapy department after each class.

Since the seats for the sessions are limited, interested participants can call 17812375/17812389 or email bsh.sales@bsh.com.bh to register for the sessions.
