In a Clear Confirmation for the Saudi Youth Skills and Potentials The Saudi Teams Overrun Snickers Street Skillz Finals
Jeddah, KSA - 8 July, 2007: the final showdown of Snickers Street Skillz, was held on Friday, 6th July, in Jeddah, an alternative 3-on-3 caged football tournament. Teams from previous matches held around the region including Sharjah team from UAE, Doha team from Qatar, Jeddah and Riyadh teams from KSA, had participated to battle it out to win the tournament.
A total of 192 teams have participated in the 2007 tournament, which kicked off at the beginning of May in Sharjah, followed by matches in Doha, Riyadh and Jeddah. Street Skillz was launched in 2006 with tournaments in Jeddah and Riyadh, but due to high demand from youths across the region, was rolled out across four cities this year.
During the tournament's first and the second day, the participants played to win where the competition witnessed high playing skills, the public were astonished and the enjoyment reached its peak when the international British freestyler, Dan Magness, stepped in and performed a dazzling and unbelievable demonstration that showed a high controllable level.
At the end of the competition, Kaka team from Jeddah won to battle out with the 2nd place winner, Snickers team. Whereas the 3rd place winner from Jeddah participated in the final game beating out Doha team that won the second place.
The final eight teams were split into two groups to compete against each other so the first and the second winner of each group play over the semi final game. The games witnessed a powerful and efficient participation for the first time by the GCC that showed an outstanding skillful level, but the winning place was accomplished by the land owners and the local public.
The four Saudi teams were qualified to prove the Saudi ball's efficiency and the player's skillfulness, so the semi final games were 100 per cent Saudis and the final results were as follows:
Final games:
Zeidan from Riyadh won over Snickers with 3-5 points.
Al Kindara Stars won the game that chose the third and fourth places, over Kaka with 2-3 points.
With these results, Zeidan team won the Snickers Street Skillz Tournament 07 Championship and walked away with a grand prize of SR 7,000 with teams reaching second and third place being awarded SR 5,000 and SR 3,000 respectively.
Dan Magness, one of the world's top football freestylers will be making an appearance at the Jeddah tournament to hype up the crowds and challenge players to match his unbeatable skillz! Learning his football tricks growing up in the UK, Magness has honed them to perfection and put together an unrivalled football freestyle display which enabled him to beat 1,000 freestylers in a UK championship.
