Dubai, UAE, November 16, 2011: After weeks of collating entries and rigorous judging, the shortlist for the 2011 Gemas Effie Mena Awards has been revealed.

As one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the Middle East's business calendar approaches, marketing professionals from around the Mena region are gearing up for its version of the world's premier awards for marketing excellence, the Effies. The gold, silver and bronze status of each entry, and the winner of the ultimate Grand Prix for 2011, will be announced at the gala awards presentation on November 24, at the Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai. The 2011 Gemas Effie Mena Awards is brought to you by Gulf Marketing Review, published by Mediaquest Corp.

The Awards are judged by a panel of regional and international marketing experts based upon quantifiable and measurable results from marketing campaigns that have run in one or more Mena country. Awards categories include: banking, finance and insurance; food and beverage, FMCG; travel, tourism and transportation; non-food FMCG; telecommunications/mobiles and internet; media; retail/cosmetics and fragrances; sports marketing campaign; electronics/computers; best new product launch; best use of CSR; best youth marketing campaign; and the Grand Prix. This is in addition to the Gemas Marketer of the Year Award, presented by Gulf Marketing Review.

Combining the global heritage of 41 years of Effie Awards, and the long-running regional expertise of the Gulf Effectiveness in Marketing Awards (GEMAS), winners are brands that can prove they have met a marketing challenge with an idea big enough and effective enough to win the hearts and minds of consumers.

Alexandre Hawari, co-CEO of Mediaquest Corp. said: "The Gemas Effie Mena Awards is a must-attend event for those in the business. Celebrating the most effective marketing communication campaigns of the year is vital in keeping the creativity and fun alive among regional professionals, showcasing exactly what the Middle East has to offer. We are lucky enough to have a wide range of nationalities, cultures and minds across the Mena region, and we therefore benefit from an amazing array of ideas and concepts.

"We would also like to thank our sponsors for their contributions and continuous support, including: Choueiri Group as main sponsor; Cadillac as strategic sponsor; plus Daman, Barbican, Yahoo! Maktoob, Habanos, Ghraoui Chocolate and dotmena online network as category sponsors," Hawari added.
