Muscat: As a nation that is committed to transitioning to a sustainable and circular economy, the Sultanate will showcase unique sustainability-driven endeavours pioneered by different organisations at the upcoming Oman Sustainability Week (OSW). The highly anticipated series of events are scheduled to take place from the 12th to 16th of March 2023, with many of the events taking place at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Center (OCEC).

A national-level event, OSW will be hosted under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and will witness the presence of decision-makers, industry experts and thought leaders from various sectors. A key highlight of the event will be the OSW Site Visits programme on 16th March 2023, which is designed in collaboration with the Strategic Partners of OSW, ASYAD Group, be’ah, Nama Group, Petroleum Development Oman, Oman LNG, OQ and Shell. The programme will offer attendees an opportunity to explore and gain invaluable insights into active projects, learn about international best practices and techniques, and better understand how these sustainable projects have been contributing to building a sustainable environment across the Sultanate.

As part of the site visits, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) will offer a tour of its MAF premises, specifically RAH and KW to provide attendees the opportunity to see the 3D-printed building. Meanwhile, bp Oman will feature as part of the programme, its solar robot project at GUtech. be’ah Oman will take attendees through the operations of its Sohar Industrial Waste Treatment Facility (IWTF) as well as the Barka Engineered Landfill. In addition, Nama Group’s site visit will include the wetland sales center and lagoons, whereas ASYAD Group will illustrate developments in the SOHAR Port and Freezone in North Al Batinah, and OQ will showcase the Majis Industrial Services.

Commenting on the various site visits, Ashley Roberts, General Manager said, “OSW is an excellent networking platform that will enable visitors to connect and collaborate with others in the industry who prioritise sustainability. The OSW Site Visit Programme, while imparting a deeper understanding of how large-scale sustainability activities function, will also shine the spotlight on the companies that have integrated sustainability into every aspect of their operations, thereby further attesting to their unfaltering dedication to fostering a sustainability-centric economy. Their involvement goes beyond showcasing sustainability initiatives and the progress made towards achieving targets; by presenting quantifiable results as well as the impact of the initiatives, these distinguished companies seek to inspire others to convert their sustainable strategies into actionable results.”

Apart from the site visits, the OSW Expo is aimed at increasing public awareness about sustainability through an active, engaging, and interactive environment. The free-to-visit exhibition will feature latest innovations from across the world driving the regional and global transition towards achieving net zero carbon emissions.

With Oman Vision 2040 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals in mind, OSW is geared at being the crucial bridge between those seeking to embrace the latest technological developments in sustainability and market experts providing advanced sustainability-linked solutions. The various exhibitions, programmes and high-level discussions will not only highlight sustainability trends in global markets but will also help address the challenges and leverage opportunities in key priority areas like green hydrogen, water, and waste demands as well as environmental protection.
