Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain: The Gulf American Hospital, one of the leading multispecialty hospitals in the Kingdom of Bahrain, hosted an educational lecture entitled, ‘The Role of X-rays in Our Health’ given by radiologist Dr. Munir Al-Khatib at the hospital’s lecture hall.
The lecture highlighted the important role that X-rays play in our health as a quick and painless procedure that assists in diagnosing diseases. By producing images of internal organs and bones in particular, doctors can then follow the treatment measures available for the patient. Dr. Al-Khatib also touched on the medical reasons for conducting X-rays, primarily the identification of fractures or infections in bones and teeth, the detection of tumors, the measurement of bone density to diagnose osteoporosis, as well as the diagnosis of pneumonia, tuberculosis or lung cancer.
Blood tests, dental exams and nutrition counseling were provided on the sidelines of the lecture. In-kind gifts were distributed to all participants.
