Home users can now achieve best image quality, fast scanning speeds and high quality scans from documents and photos, including positive and negative film
December 28, 2003
EPSON Middle East have introduced the EPSON Perfection 1670 and 1670 Photo scanners designed to offer professional photo manipulation technology to the home or small office user at a reasonable cost.
EPSON has incorporated a range of innovative new technologies into both devices including a CCD sensor, which scans images at a remarkable 1600dpi. The scanners also boast a fast USB 2.0 high-speed connection and a brighter internal lamp, to produce film scans up to 4 times faster than previous models. For the photo editing enthusiast, the Perfection 1670 Photo also includes an integrated 35mm Transparency Unit (TPU) which allows users to scan positive and negative film strips as well as standard photographs.
“The launch of EPSON’s Perfection 1670 and Perfection 1670 Photo demonstrate our commitment to home and small office users by providing cutting edge solutions at competitive prices,” said Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, EPSON Middle East. “
The Perfection 1670 and 1670 Photo have several new features including EPSON’s new driver software, EPSON Scan. This works as both driver software that sends image data to TWAIN compliant applications such as Adobe® Photoshop, and as a stand-alone application that saves images from data to file.
EPSON Scan features powerful image editing tools including colour restoration of faded or discoloured photographs. The new software caters for all users from the beginner to the professional by offering different modes, which adjusts the amount of input a user can have when editing and restoring images. Another feature of the Perfection 1670 Photo software is the dust removal technology. The scanner can detect ‘dust noise’ during scanning and the EPSON Scan software removes the noise by replacing it with neighbouring pixels producing outstanding results.
EPSON includes a wide range of software with the devices. This includes BizCard 4.0 that allows users to scan multiple business cards that can then be converted into contacts on their PC. ArcSoft PhotoImpression™ and NewSoft Presto! Software ensures the user has all the tools they need for creative image scanning and editing.
The Perfection 1670 and 1670 Photo scanners’ wide range of features and smart technology are complemented with a new compact design making it suitable for any desktop. The product features four new One-Touch buttons that allow the user to scan, copy, email, and scan to the web without needing contact with their computer.
