VRD-MC5 DVDirect recorder dubs Handycam footage and digital photos to DVD with no PC needed
Dubai, 20th January 2008: Sony Gulf recently announced the launch of the new Sony VRD-MC5 DVD Recorder which dubs video content from virtually any camcorder source - including all Sony HDD, DVD, DV and 8mm models - straight onto DVD. The VRD-MC5 makes it easier than ever to transfer home videos and digital photos to DVD for enjoying on your TV, home entertainment system or computer.
Its also the first DVDirect recorder that can burn pristine HD 1080i footage from a High Definition Memory Stick or hard disk Handycam onto disc. AVCHD format HD discs can be enjoyed on a PC*, PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment system or compatible Blu-ray Disc recorder/player.
Operation is fuss-free, with no need for a PC or intimidating DVD authoring software. Just connect any Handycam directly or drop it into its Handycam Station docking cradle. The VRD-MC5 automatically detects input signals from connected devices. Operating prompts are provided via the clear, easy-to-read 2.5-inch LCD screen that doubles as a monitor for reviewing standard definition video and still images.
Footage is burned to DVD from HDD or Memory Stick Handycam models with a press of the camcorder's 'Disc Burn' button or a button on the docking station. There is also a record button on the VRD-MC5 itself for dubbing content at a single touch from a connected DV or DVD Handycam.
Incremental dubbing only transfers newly-added content, saving time when you don't want to transfer everything on your camcorder to DVD. If you want to copy a favourite scene or footage from a particular date, Scene Selection/Date Selection/Playlist Dubbing burns only your chosen content to DVD**.
DVD menus with chapter and titling information can be created easily for impressively polished results. Menu backgrounds can be chosen from four presets or imported from a digital camera via the on-board media slots.
Five recording quality modes allow up to twelve hours of standard definition video or up to 2,000 digital pictures to be stored per disc on 4.7GB DVD+R/+RW and 8.5GB DVD+R Double Layer Discs (when using analogue and DV inputs only). Up to 95 minutes of High Definition AVCHD video can be stored on 4.7GB DVD+R/+RW discs. Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound can also be recorded, while 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio recording is supported with compatible camcorders.
The VRD-MC5 also archives all your digital photos to disc. Just slip your camera's memory card into the media slot and follow the simple onscreen instructions to burn images onto DVD. Still photos can also be transferred via USB from a connected hard disk, DVD or Memory Stick Handycam for burning to disc. You can even create a DVD slideshow of your favourite digital photos, complete with musical accompaniment from imported MP3 music tracks.
