13 January 2007
Dubai, UAE - After 24 grueling hours racing at the FIA Certified Dubai Autodrome track, Duller Motorsport on the Redbull BMW Z4 Coupe crossed the finish line first to win the second Toyo Tires 24 hours of Dubai for the second consecutive year. The victorious Num 40 team started from second position and was able to grab the lead in the final hours of the race.

The Austrian team driven by Dieter Quester, Dirk Werner, Jarik Janis, Jamie Campbell Walter and Phillippe Peter completed 567 laps in 24 hours. Second place went to Konrad Lechner Motorsport who finished three laps behind the winners. Team Pro Speed Competition 1 rounded the podium after completing 553 laps. The fastest lap of the race (2:04.756) was set on lap 271 by Team Oktanas.

The race started at 2pm on Friday January 12 and saw a fierce battle for the first position between Konrad Lechner Motorsport, Oktanas, and Duller Motorsport. This battle continued throughout the first hours but it was Konrad Lechner who had the upper hand and was able throughout the long hours of the night to open a comfortable lead of six laps over Duller Motorsport.

But the worst was yet to come for Konrad Lechner as mechanical problems hit the team when the front wheel bearing was broken. This forced the team to loose valuable time in the pits and by the time they joined the race they were in second place four laps behind Duller Motorsport. From that time Duller did not look behind and went on to score their second consecutive win in Dubai.

Race winner Dieter Quester from Duller Motorsport said: "It was a very tough race. The good strategy that we have put and the excellent performance of the drivers, car and tires paid at the end. It's a great result to win the race for Duller for the second consecutive year."

"Once again, the race proved to be very successful. We had 76 entries from 26 different countries which is a unique diversity of nationalities and maybe the largest in the world. We have achieved a remarkable step forward to build this race into a well renowned one. We will put our efforts in a wider scope to keep the variety of categories and increase the number of cars competing. I would like to thank the Dubai Authorities, Dubai Autodrome, teams, drivers and all the Creventic Team for their full support in making this event a successful one. Said Gerrie Willems, Event Promoter.

"It's a great start for the year 2007. We have had international high caliber drivers and teams participating along with a small Arabic participation. We will do our best to support more and more local and Arabic participation in the upcoming races." Said, Saeed Khalfan, Chairman of the Dubai Autodrome.

"Thanks to the Dubai Autodrome for hosting the 2007 Toyo Tire 24 hour race of Dubai. It was a very exciting race for our team Ebbing 2. It feels great for me personally to have completed my first 24 hour race here which was very challenging. The night racing has been fantastic and our car kept running at a healthy pace throughout the night. It's great to finish second in our class (A2) and 19th overall with a 2.0L Renault Clio. I'm looking forward to take part in the 2008 24 h race of Dubai here again in a Porsche GT3 Cup with Al Nabooda Racing Team. Said Karim Al Azhari.

Following the Prize Giving ceremony, racing fans were treated to a drifting show by Europe's top drifters.
