To establish cooperation in Internship, faculty exchange, Research and Training
November 13, 2007, Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Medical College for Girls (DMCG), the first medical college in the UAE, has signed an agreement with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), India's premier medical college and hospital. The areas of cooperation identified are Internship electives, training of DMCG faculty in specialised areas, joint research, joint Continued Medical Education (CME) programs and inviting external examiners and visiting faculty from AIIMS during pre-clinical and clinical phases.
Prof. Mohammed Galal El Din Ahmed, Dean of DMCG commented," Dubai Medical College has created a benchmark for quality medical education with accreditations from the United States, Britain and World Health Organisation (WHO). This agreement with AIIMS will further raise our benchmark to greater heights by using a vast pool of resources for clinical and research purposes."
"Over 2 million patients attend the out-patient department of AIIMS every year. Such a large number and the variety of clinical material will provide our students with a comprehensive exposure. The state-of-the-art post-graduation facility which is rated the best in the country will also provide an opportunity for DMCG faculty for interaction with the faculty of AIIMS to share knowledge and facilitate interdepartmental integration", added Prof. Galal.
As the first step following collaboration with AIIMS, Dubai Medical College would be participating in the AIIMS-FAIMER National Conference on Medical Education (NCME) to be held from 14th to 17th November, 2007 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Dr. Fouzia Shersad, Director, Institutional Effectiveness Unit, Dubai Medical College, will represent DMCG with a presentation on the use of EFQM excellence model (European Foundation for Quality Management) as a faculty development tool. DMCG has the unique distinction of being the first medical college in the Gulf region to adopt the EFQM model originally designed for the trade sector, to the education sector. The EFQM model is a standard adopted by the 'Dubai Quality Award'. DMCG was awarded the 'Dubai Quality Appreciation Program' in 2006.

About Dubai Medical College for Girls (DMCG)
Dubai Medical College for girls was established in 1986 by philanthropist Haj Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Lootah, Founder and Chairman of the Conglomerate S.S. Lootah Group. The fact that DMCG is solely for girls and that DMCG was started at a time when higher education for girls in the region was lagging far behind than that of the developed countries, makes the college very unique even to this day. The 5 year course is accredited by 'Ministry of Higher Education' and the college is enlisted in the World Health Organisation (WHO) Directory of Medical Schools.
In addition to Dubai Medical College, the other educational institutions supported by the S.S. Lootah Group are Dubai Pharmacy College, Dubai Medical Treatment and Research centre, Dubai Institute for Environmental Research, Islamic schools, Technical Institutes and Research Centers. They also run orphanages and welfare institutions.
