Vacancies of 13 government entities in one job portal

Dubai, June 12, 2013: Job applications submitted via the Dubai Government job portal (eJob) have risen by 36%, according to official statistics revealed by Dubai eGovernment Department (DeG). This coincides with the successful awareness campaign launched by DeG in May 2013, its participation in Careers UAE 2013 and new updates to the portal.

The rise in number of registrants in the eJob portal, www.ejob.ae, was accompanied by an upward growth in the number of applicants for vacancies to 3,716 over the three weeks that followed the media campaign as compared to 2,739 applicants for the same period before the promotional campaign. The eJob portal provides a fully electronic mechanism for dealing with job applications starting with the department's vacancies, to submission of applications, posting of resumes, management of interviews, sending job offers, tracking applications, receiving correspondence, fixing dates for personal interviews and finally selecting the eligible candidates.

H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment, said: "Dubai eGovernment's eJob portal has strategic importance as a fundamental mainstay for embodying the directives of our prudent leadership towards encouraging the optimal investment in human resources. The increasing adoption of the eJob services reflects the increasing confidence in eServices and Dubai's leading position as a destination attracting qualified staff, be they UAE graduates or others from around the world. This motivates us to carry on employing the latest technologies to facilitate the access of as many as national graduates and job-seekers for pushing the accelerating wheel of development in Dubai."

Bin Humaidan noted that the number of government entities participating in eJob rose to 13 this year, stressing DeG's keenness on bringing all government authorities under the eJob umbrella over the coming three years. This is in line with DeG's drive towards enhancing government integration and keeping pace with best practices in global standards in a bid to increase the available job opportunities, while exerting maximum efforts to access a larger section of the targeted categories in line with the government's future prospects.

Bin Humaidan added: "We in DeG have succeeded in consolidating the concept of digital transformation, which is based on excellence and innovation. We are looking forward to entering a new stage by responding to the mobile smart government initiative launched recently by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for employing the local infrastructure, to reach new prospects of growth and prosperity in Dubai in particular and the UAE in general."

DeG has held 12 training workshops for 125 employees of human resources sections at Dubai government departments and entities, enabling them to get familiar with the new design as well as the updates that were made on eJob. The updates were meant to meet the needs of job seekers and government entities as now logging into the eJob requires only simple steps to be taken.

eJob provides job seekers many options including the possibility to review all available jobs, search within the categories of vacancies (administration, customer care, engineering, finance, HR, ICT and operations) or search via the name of the government entity or the date the ad was posted.
