Training sessions, held in association with Baker Botts LLP, provided improved legal drafting skills to all participants

Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Legal Services Department concluded a two-day training workshop on "Drafting Legal Contracts" at the Chamber premises recently. The workshop was held in association with Baker Botts LLP, which is known to be one of the world's leading energy law firms.

The workshop focused on the legal professionals' needs of understanding the techniques and vital elements involved in producing legal contracts.

Attended by lawyers, legal consultants and professionals, contract specialists and senior and middle managers, the workshop was conducted by David Emmons, a partner in Baker Botts Dallas office, Greg Golden, the Partner in Charge in the Baker Botts Abu Dhabi office, John Herman, special Counsel and Rasha Al Saeed, an associate in the Baker Botts Dubai office.

Jehad Kazim, Director, Legal Services Department, Dubai Chamber, informed that the workshop was organized in line with the Chamber's strategic objective of supporting the development of business by identifying best business practices to enhance the stakeholders' performance and competitiveness.

Said Jehad, "Drafting international contracts can be tricky, necessitating special skills and techniques to avoid loopholes that can eventually lead to delays and unacceptable legal risks. The workshop provided a fast, effective and clear way to obtain the skills and the confidence to understand legal contracts to all attendees."

The training sessions highlighted different fundamentals of a legal contract, explaining its vital elements which composes balanced terms, main factors essential to upholding a valid agreement, improved legal drafting skills and knowhow, assurance of delivering contracts that manage business risks and meet clients' needs.
