2011 witnessed rapid increase in the number of Japanese companies in the Dubai Freezone

Dubai, UAE, 20th November 2011: A large number of Japanese companies have shown keen interest to take full advantage of the world-class business-based platform of Dubai Airport Freezone to expand their presence in the Middle East region and beyond.

In a call to reinforce the growing bilateral trade relations between Dubai Airport Freezone and the Japanese trade community, a high-level delegation from the Japanese External Trade Organization recently visited the Dubai freezone and met with the senior officials.

The delegation, which comprised 18 representatives of the organization in the Middle East, was led by Mr. Tomiyasu Nakamura, Executive Vice President of Japanese External Trade Organization.

In his comments on the visit, Mr. Nakamura said, "Dubai has become a distinguished investment hub for Japanese businesses. The number of Japanese companies has spurted in the recent past. The strategic location of Dubai Airport Freezone, due to its proximity to the Dubai Airport, is attracting Japanese companies looking for investment opportunities in the Middle East."

When it comes to the favorite region for investment, the Japan External Trade Organization is ranking Dubai in a leading position. The Japanese External Trade Organization is the government's arm that encourages trade relations between Japan and other countries. Furthermore, Dubai also enjoys special reputation amongst Japanese investors and businessmen due to the flexible investment laws and regulations in the UAE, which help encourage and support foreign investments, and builds trade partnership between foreign and local investors.

The Japanese economy is considered the fourth biggest in the world after Europe, the United States, and China. In 2010, it witnessed a considerable economic growth rate of three per cent along with an increase in its electronics and car exports to the Middle East, due to its high quality and durability, making them the highest consumed products in the region. These findings have significantly encouraged Japanese investors to identify the scope of development, and operate directly from Dubai Airport Freezone in order to take full advantage of its world-class facilities and location. Dubai Airport Freezone has by far the most advanced and state-of-the-art facilities that help foreign investments meet their strategic goals by satisfying the needs of the customers and helping them achieve their targets.

Mr. Nasser Al Madani, Assistant Director General Dubai Airport Free Zone, said, "As steps towards boosting our trade ties, we recently promoted our services and facilities at a seminar in Osaka and Tokyo in Japan; as we are keen to attract more Japanese companies to Dubai Airport Freezone, which will benefit the overall UAE economy."

He added: "Dubai Airport Freezone has emerged as the favorite destination for the Japanese multi-national companies and investors-which resulted in attracting many companies in the recent years.

He said," We shall continue to provide the Japanese companies with highly advanced and modern facilities, unrivaled services and the best industry standards to help them meet their strategic investment goals."
