Three feature films and a collection Pixar Shorts presented each evening of the festival

Doha, Qatar: The Doha Film Institute is celebrating the ‘Discover America Festival’ from November 1 to 4, at 7 PM daily, at the Museum of Islamic Art Park. Watch a line-up of four animation films in the outdoors with the ‘Cinema Under the Stars’ programme, organised in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Qatar, and open to all for free.

Fatma Hassan AlRemaihi, Chief Executive Officer of the Doha Film Institute, said: “Discover America Festival 2018 will give audiences another reason to make the evenings even more enjoyable with a selection of four animation family-friendly films. The films have been chosen to keep young and old alike delighted and is part of our year-round efforts to connect the community and strengthen the spirit of togetherness through the medium of films.”

These films are not only entertaining for the whole family, but they educate us, help us learn more about each other, breakdown stereotypes, and transcend our borders. On November 1, Thursday, watch Planes (2013) directed by Klay Hall, about Dusty Crophopper, a little plane with a fear of heights and a crazy dream of being a racer. To achieve his goal, Dusty turns to naval aviator Skipper. Dusty's courage faces the ultimate test, as he aims for heights he never dreamed were possible.

Discover short masterpieces of storytelling from the creative minds that brought you 'Toy Story', 'Monsters', and 'Finding Nemo' with Pixar Shorts: Volume 1 (2007) on Nov. 2, Friday. Directed by John Lasseter, these short films have revolutionary animation, unforgettable music and characters you love.

Toy Story (1995), the delightful superhit directed by John Lasseter will be screened on Nov. 3, Saturday. The film is about Woody, a cowboy doll, who is Andy's favourite toy, and Buzz Lightyear, the space hero, who takes Andy's room by storm upon his arrival. Their rivalry leaves them lost and in a nightmare with Sid, a toy-torturing boy next door.

The final screening on Sunday, Nov. 4, is of Chicken Little (2005) directed by Mark Dindal. Young Chicken Little throws his small town into panic by claiming the sky is falling. Unable to find the piece of ‘sky’ that hit him, he earns the town's scorn. A year later, he is hit on the head again and discovers that the ‘falling sky’ is actually from a UFO. Now, Little must convince the sceptical town that an alien invasion is about to happen.

Admission to the screening on a first come, first seated basis.
