Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Saturday, 12th March, 2007:- Dubai Medical College for Girls (DMCG) has successfully adopted self learning methods at par with world leading medical schools, thereby enhancing its status as the leading medical college that focuses on education development in the United Arab Emirates, stated, Saleh Lootah, member of the DMCG Executive Board during the annual All Faculty Meeting held in Dubai last week. Lootah addressed the gathering on behalf of his father, founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Haj Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Lootah referring to DMCG 20th anniversary celebration and praising the commitment and dedication of DMCG faculty to continuously improve on the quality of education the students receive. " As the first medical college in the UAE, we have a responsibility towards our community and students, developing the medical education and producing distinguished doctors has been and will continue to be our pride and achievement to improve the quality of healthcare in the UAE and beyond" said Lootah.
The All Faculty meeting was attended by Dr. Rashid Bin Shabib, Vice Chairman of DOHMS and Chairman of DMCG Executive Board, Prof. Mohamed Galal El Din, Dean of DMCG, Prof. Muscat Baron, Clinical Dean and over a hundred faculty members. The meeting addressed the all important issue of integration between pre Clinical and clinical studies. Dr.Bin Shabib encouraged faculty members to participate in forming policies and set objectives that will further enhance the integration between both stages and further develop the cooperation between faculty members. "The Executive Board of DMCG is proud of the progress in DMCG has made during the past academic year in the areas of quality of education and examination, accreditation process and institutional effectiveness assessment, faculty development, student activities and academic achievements" said Dr. Bin Shabib." We are committed to support DMCG faculty and empower them to work as one team delivering the best medical education in our region", he added.
DMCG adopts a system of self-learning, which represents the core of all recent educational philosophies. DMCG teaching program has continually been evaluated and updated to impart cutting edge medical education. DMCG implemented the Innovative Medical Education program last year as an integrated framework of Problem-Based Learning that allows undergraduate medical students to be better exposed to specific human and community needs and benefit from more experiential and inductive methods of learning. The integrated teaching program, implemented in the pre-clinical phase, ensures a comprehensive understanding of the subjects and prepares students for the clinical phase.
DMCG was the first college to award a degree in medicine & surgery in the UAE. The college was established in 1986 as a not-for-profit educational venture by the visionary
Haj Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Lootah to offer girls in the United Arab Emirates and the region an opportunity to study medicine and avoid the troubles and risks of traveling abroad. Today, DMCG celebrates its 20th anniversary with a record of over 500 graduates practicing medicine in the UAE and around the world and continues to be the leading internationally accredited medical college in the region.
