The Knowledge Management Department of Dubai Municipality has launched its comprehensive knowledge portal aimed at promoting the exchange of knowledge, knowhow and best practices among employees, organizational units and departments of the civic body.
Having launched the new intranet portal, Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality said : the move comes as part of the departments' keenness to achieve its vision to provide an integrated environment of knowledge that stimulates creativity through optimum use of intellectual resources, and ensuring its availability to the beneficiaries appropriately to provide excellent services.
'Thousands of employees benefit from the portal via its proper use through optimal utilization in various forms such as the exchange of ideas and experiences and introduction of useful materials, including research, studies, papers, technical reports, presentation of organizational units, training materials, awareness lectures, successful experiences and lessons,' Lootah said.
'The municipality is considered one of the most advanced government departments in encouraging the employees to get qualifications that help them accomplish their tasks and achieve future dreams,' he said.
Fatima Abdulla Al Bedwawi, Head Of Planning & Development Office at Knowledge Management Department said: The knowledge portal includes several titles namely : Department Profile, Information Management Systems, Knowledge Resources, Intellectual Property, My Library, Knowledge Dialogue Forum , Creativity, Events and Gallery ...etc.
'It is worth mentioning that the employee can, through dialogue forum, put up topics for discussion in order to improve and increase the knowledge among the staff and receive replies and comments and discussions. The My Library page includes several links to useful documents in English and Arabic in addition to statistics, books, magazines, CDs as well as useful relevant links,' Al Bedwawi said.
'The Innovation Wing encourages the staff to participate with their personal and professional contributions and take advantage of the innovations of colleagues at work, which creates a positive spirit of competition and thus help achieve the vision of department,' she said.
She expressed sincere thanks to the staff who have enriched this knowledge treasure by their effective participation and undying enthusiasm for last three years during which they developed this innovative portal.
Al Badwawi also extended special thanks to Huda Ozair Mubarak, Head of Documents and Records Management Section for her continues support and help in developing the portal.
