Dubai, UAE: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has received the ISO 21500:2012 certificate for Project Management after a rigorous audit by British Standards (BSI) on DEWA’s compliance with best practices. The certificate also ensures standardisation and development of project management in a way that reduces costs, improves efficiency and quality of DEWA’s projects and operations, and ensures that all DEWA divisions apply the highest international standards for project management.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, noted that DEWA adopts innovation and applies the highest standards of efficiency and reliability in managing all its projects and operations. This helps it achieve its strategic objectives by attracting and applying the latest technologies and solutions in different operations and improve the corporate performance. DEWA’s plans are periodically updated according to the data and anticipation of future demand and consumption and in line with the comprehensive development plans set by the Government of Dubai. It is also based on data and information from developers and the business sector, and population growth.

“The ISO 21500:2012 certificate on Project Management is a new addition to DEWA’s track record of global achievements. In 2012, DEWA was the first government organisation to become a registered educational provider, by the PMI, making it a pioneer in providing valuable knowledge in project management for its employees and part of the world project management standards. Through DEWA Academy, DEWA continuously updates training requirements in project management in collaboration with the PMI as well as adding new specialised certificates,” said Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources.
