At a total cost of AED 998millions and power capacity of 400/132 KV

Dubai, UAE - 24 February, 2011: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) continues its development projects to raise and upgrade the power capacity of its infrastructure to keep pace with the growth of demand for its services and meet its aspirations to optimize these services so as to achieve efficiency and reliability. As part of this relentless pursuit, the works, which include supplying, installing, testing and commissioning of the two substations with the capacity of 400/132 KV at Al Aweer and Dubai Land, are about to be finished.  The total cost of the project reaches up to AED 998 millions.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer MD & CEO of DEWA stated: "DEWA's efforts come within the framework of enhancing the efficiency of power grids to meet the growth of demand for DEWA's services and persist with implementing its vital projects especially in the field of infrastructure. These efforts are in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, - UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai which aim to consolidate Dubai's leading position in the region and enhancing its role as a world economic and financial pole." 

"This project aims basically to enhance the processes of electricity transmission at Ras Al Khor and Dubai Land. The works comprises of supplying, installing, testing and commissioning of the two transmission substations with the capacity of 400/132 KV, each of them contains 4 transformers with the capacity of 505 Mega Volt Ampere. Transformation Substation at Ras Al Khor Used Car Complex will be connected to the similar (G), (H) and Mishref Station.The first substation located at Ras Al Khor will serve Al Warqaa, Mirdif, Nad Al Sheba, and Nad Al Hamr, whereas the second one located at Dubai Land will serve Silicon Oasis, Al Barari, Al Ain Road, Al Lisaili,  and some remote areas as well as other projects within Dubai Land," HE Saeed Al Tayer further added.," HE Saeed Al Tayer further added.

HE Saeed Al Tayer pointed out: "Dubai Electricity and Water Authority persists with its march towards successful sustainable development, while adopting the best international technologies as well as adhering to achieving the highest standards of safety and environmental commitment so as to raise production and operational capacity of electricity grids. It is estimated that works in Al Al Aweer Substation will be completed in next April, while Dubai Land Substation will be finished in 2012."
