Dubai - Dubai Contracting Company (DCC) has announced the completion of its first successful Syracuse University Internship Program (DSIP) held in Dubai. To mark the occasion, DCC held a ceremony at Dusit Thani Hotel and awarded certificates to the students who have successfully completed the SU Internship Program. The program aimed to provide young civil engineering students the opportunity to experience first hand what it is like to work in the construction sector in the UAE through a combination of practical and theoretical training sessions over a 6 week summer period.
A total of 12 students attended the program, with 6 coming from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CIE) at Syracuse University in the United States of America, and 6 from the School of Engineering at the American University in Dubai (AUD). The program involved daily site visits to DCC's projects and study sessions at the company's headquarters.
"The DSIP embodied our commitment to education through supporting students who will hopefully become leaders in the construction sector in the future. After successfully completing the first internship we concluded that investing in young engineering students at an early stage, can benefit the construction industry in the UAE in the long term, while also encouraging a stronger cultural understanding between the groups of students," said Abdallah Yabroudi, CEO of DCC.
The success of this program in providing the students with on-site, practical experience and knowledge marks the first step towards more DCC internship programs in the future.
