Dubai, March 2nd, 2009: Global Logistic Services Co. LLC, the Industrial Catering Division of DAMAC Group, has been awarded the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification by Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

Global Logistics is the first UAE based industrial catering company that has the privilege of achieving both ISO and HACCP certifications by DNV, an international certification body which is well known for its credibility and repute. This is a system that is highly recommended by Dubai Municipality for food and allied industries.

On receiving this recognition from DNV, Sofyan Khatib, Group Director, DAMAC Holding said, "DNV Lead Assessors had examined our food safety management system and the related site services during a three-day certification audit before awarding us the certificate. HACCP is a systematic preventive approach to food safety that addresses physical, chemical and biological hazards as a means of prevention, rather than finished product inspection,"

"HACCP is used in the food industry to identify potential food safety hazards, so that key actions known as Critical Control Points (CCPs) can be taken to reduce or eliminate the risk of the hazards," he added.

"Global Logistics has always been serious in improving its quality, health, safety and environmental standards.  We first got our ISO certification in the year 1998.  As part of Global's consistent effort to provide better services to its customers, Global's Quality Management System was upgraded to ISO 9001: 2000 in the year 2003. In order to further enhance our food hygiene and safety standards and thus to provide best value service to our customers, we decided to obtain HACCP, the prestigious accreditation that is possessed by only a very few catering companies in the region," he added.
