KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA, 12 October 2008: Foundry Networks®, Inc., a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, has been selected by Cyberia, one of the region's leading Internet Service Providers (ISP), to upgrade its network in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). In line with its growing operations around the Kingdom, Cyberia selected Foundry's ServerIron 850 Plus application delivery switches to provide its network with added Layer 4 sessions, scalability and dramatically greater capacity to support its upgrade 10Gbps links.

"We chose Foundry because of its stability, availability and scalability," said Khalid Salman, director of operations at Cyberia. "As a leading regional ISP, we are committed to meeting our users' expectations for high quality-of-service, and this mainly relies on highly reliable and stable networking. Our main concern, while upgrading the network, was service availability; Foundry created a solid and thorough upgrade plan that made the migration extremely smooth."

Foundry Networks' ServerIron 850 Plus is being used for transparent caching and load balancing, adding more capacity and redundancy to Cyberia's network backbone. The new implementation successfully provides the 10Gbps connectivity the network required for its growing user base and emerging advanced applications in KSA.

The ServerIron 350, 450 and 850 Plus Series features Foundry's ultra high-performance application switches in a choice of three form factors. These switches can be customized for performance, port density and SSL acceleration to meet a range of application and data center infrastructure needs. All three switches are purpose-built with a modular architecture for superior performance and scalability, and can be expanded to meet growing traffic demands with ultimate investment protection, including 10 gigabit Ethernet application delivery. The ServerIron products are almost exclusively used by over 2,000 of the world's most demanding organizations.

According to Salman, "This upgrade is in line with our efforts to provide first-grade Internet Services to the region. It is only one of many steps we have planned to help us in our continous growth."

Cyberia offers Internet access services in KSA, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Lebanese Republic under the trade name "Cyberia" and has its headquarters in Riyadh, KSA. Cyberia is owned by OgerTelecom, a fixed and mobile operator with more than 35 million subscribers under management. The Internet operations first started in Lebanon in 1996. In an attempt to expand in the Middle East and in an aggressive move to lead the Internet industry in the region, Cyberia started offering Internet services in Jordan early 2001 and then in KSA in 2002.

"Layer 4-7 application switches are purpose built for enterprise and service provider business-critical application infrastructures," said Farook Majeed, Regional Director for Middle East at Foundry Networks. "We are pleased that Cyberia has selected our ServerIron 850 Plus application delivery switches. These switches deliver ease of management and space efficiency without sacrificing high availability, port expandability and performance upgradeability to accommodate growth in application traffic."
