Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - Swarovski, the world leader in crystal manufacture, hosted a lavish high tea at the Al Manahil Company on Tuesday, 22 January 2008, to showcase their latest CRYSTAL Nights made with CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements collection. Select VIP guests were invited to discover a fantasy world of Abayas, Shelas and Jalabiyas that were beautifully transformed with CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements by leading local designers and bespoke tailors such as Fatima Abid Al Thaqafee, Aujoba Abaya Shop, Fashion Top, Fashion Line, Bedoon Essm and Top Design.

CRYSTAL Nights, a prototype collection of traditional Khaleeji fashion embellished with crystal components, was first launched in the UAE in 2006. It celebrates the elegance of Middle Eastern heritage, and is fully supported by leading local designers and manufacturers of traditional garments who produce especially for the collection. Since its conception, CRYSTAL Nights has continued to provide innovation in the traditional fashion industry through a series of special events all over the GCC, finally reaching Saudi Arabia following much anticipation.

"Swarovski is dedicated to supporting Middle Eastern heritage and culture, as well as preserving deep-rooted customs; it is this reason that we decided to further develop CRYSTAL Nights. Due to the large market for abayas, taking the concept to Saudi Arabia was a natural progression, and women there are very fashion focused and interested in the intricacies of design," said Werner Baumgartner, MD, Swarovski Middle East FZE.

This inimitable event truly showcased the individuality of all CRYSTAL Nights works, which would not be brought to life without the support of the participating designers and tailors who draw on a vast array of CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements to craft beautifully feminine clothing for fashion conscious consumers. The one-of-a-kind creations illustrated how high quality crystal can seamlessly bring a glamorous and feminine touch to one of the most important fashion sectors in the region. The beautiful make-up and hair only added to the glamour of the evening and was done care of the Al Manahil Company Spa & Salon. The ground breaking CRYSTAL Nights initiative has already achieved great acclaim from the regional market, and is set to continue in its endeavor to accomplish diversity within the fashion industry.

Swarovski:
113 years ago, in 1895, Daniel Swarovski I, a Bohemian inventor and visionary, moved to the village of Wattens, Tyrol in Austria, with his newly-invented machine for cutting and polishing crystal jewellery stones. From these beginnings, which revolutionised the fashion world, Swarovski has grown to be the world's leading producer of precision-cut crystal, for fashion, jewellery and more recently lighting, architecture and interiors. Today, the company, still based in Wattens, family-owned and run by 4th and 5th generation family members, has a global reach, with some 20,000 employees, a presence in over 120 countries and a turnover in 2006 of 2,37 billion Euros. Swarovski comprises two major divisions, one producing and selling loose crystals to the industry and the other creating design-driven finished products. Swarovski crystal components, known by their product brand names CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements for fashion and STRASS® Swarovski® Crystal for architecture and light, have become an essential ingredient of international design.

Showing the creativity that lies at the heart of the company, Swarovski's own-brand lines of accessories, jewellery and home décor are sold through more than 1150 Swarovski stores and concessions in all major fashion capitals, while the exclusive Daniel Swarovski accessories collection has become the company's Couture signature. The
Swarovski Crystal Society has close to 400,000 members worldwide, keen collectors of the celebrated crystal figurines. And in Wattens, Crystal Worlds, the multi-media crystal museum, has attracted over 7 million visitors since it was opened in 1995, as a celebration of Swarovski's universe of innovation and inspiration, of crystal as the ultimate creative material. The Swarovski corporation also includes four industrial brands, Tyrolit®, manufacturing grinding tools, Swareflex, for road safety reflectors, Optik, producing precision optical instruments and Signity, Swarovski's brand for genuine and created gemstones.
