Fair aimed at encouraging more Emiratis in Fujairah to enter the industry

Dubai, UAE (June 12, 2012) - Concorde Fujairah, an elegant five-star hotel situated in the picturesque city of Fujairah, was recognized by the Fujairah Municipality Human Resources for its participation at the recent Fujairah Career Fair.

Concorde Fujairah was one of the major sponsors of the fair which was organized to create awareness about the hospitality industry in the emirate in order to attract and recruit qualified Emiratis for the job. His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamad Al Sharqi visited the hotel's stand and was welcomed by the hotel's General Manager, Mohamed Fekry.

Fekry briefed His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamad Al Sharqi on the property's effort to employ more Emiratis into the property and attract them into the hospitality industry. He explained that there have been misconceptions involving employment opportunities in the hospitality industry so they hope that their participation in the career fair will encourage more Emiratis in Fujairah to enter the industry.

Fekry added: "The hospitality industry is growing tremendously and the UAE is currently the number one destination for tourists in the Middle East. Emiratis who choose to work in this sector are therefore entering a secure and growing industry. Sometimes Emiratis have the perception that the main business of hotels is night clubs and this deters them from seeking hotel jobs. Our hotel is family-friendly and our main business is hospitality. Another perception is that hotel workers only do housekeeping and serve food. The Concorde currently has middle and higher management positions available such as Public Relations Manager and Guest Relations Manager and we are keen to recruit qualified Emiratis for these important roles."

The event turned to be very productive and proved to be a forum where new ideas can be transformed into future plans. The hotel had set up their stand with dining table and chairs, a luxury bed and a television, for visitors to have a preview of what to expect from the elegant five-star hotel.
