Dubai, 10 January, 2006: Leading retailer, Ikea, has signed with coffee solutions company, Coffee Planet LLC, to meet the demand of up to 1,000 cups of coffee served to its customers and staff a day.
Coffee Planet 's remit includes the installation, management and maintainance of four premium Acorto automated coffee machines in the store, each of which can produce 150 cups of espresso, cappuccino or latte an hour.
"With an expected 25,000 customers per week through our store, and an estimated 10% of those wanting to buy coffee, usually at peak times, we were looking to partner with a company that could provide good quality, reliable machines that are able to handle high volumes," said Mr Siddarth Bhide, Ikea.
"Coffee Planet were able to assess our requirements and provide us with a cost-effective and efficient solution with minimum labour or maintenance overheads on our part to cater for both our staff premises and two separate customer outlets."
The 25,400 square metre Ikea store is four times bigger than its previous location in City Centre. Four separate machines have been installed on the premises to cater to the large numbers.
"We are delighted to be working with Ikea as it perfectly demonstrates the core elements of our business - to provide the coffee solutions for high volumes at any type of outlet whether it be a retail store, a business centre or a catering facility," said Matthew Yorke-Smith, Director Operations, Coffee Planet LLC.
"An added feature is that we can tailor-make the product according to their requirements. For Ikea the machines are fully equipped with built-in technology to automatically alert staff of low quantities or faults, with same-day call-out for repairs," he added.
The machines serves cappuccino, espresso, caf latte, americano and hot chocolate in regular and large sizes. The units are regularly refilled with fresh coffee and milk by store staff and are subject to a regular, audited maintenance programme.
Coffee Planet LLC is currently working locally with a number of prominent corporates in the UAE for the installation of machines and kiosks into petrol stations, shopping centres, universities, shops and clubs.
