Abu Dhabi, UAE - Effective today, Careem is introducing a new Economy car type with a minimum fare of Dhs19, previously at Dhs40, on its most affordable service. The new service offers a comfortable ride at a 50% fare reduction.

In addition, Careem has reduced its rates by more than 30% across all its other car types in Abu Dhabi and is now offering a wide range of services at affordable fares.

Abu Dhabi will see the introduction of the Economy service to join the existing car types, Limo (premium vehicles with high rated captains), Careem Kids (fitted with one child seat), Max (six-seater minivans), and Careem Assist (wheelchair-friendly vehicle, also fitted with a wheelchair for customers in need).

General Manager of Careem UAE, Clemence Dutertre, said, “Our mission has always been to simplify the lives of people and these new fares open up the Careem service to more passengers enabling a wider range of customers to ride with us.

“With this new regulatory agreement, we can now charge more affordable and dynamic rates across the different car types, including launching a very affordable service, Economy”.

“We have reduced the rates for all our car types and have introduced a more affordable option which is the Economy CCT, for which the minimum fare is now at Dhs19 and price per km in at Dhs2.35.”

“This agreement comes as part of DoT’s endeavor to fulfill the leadership’s prospects to make Abu Dhabi a pioneer in the field of smart transport” Al Qamzi stated. “According to the agreement, Careem will transport the passengers within or outside the Emirate using licensed private or public hire cars. Passenger can book a car by phone or use smart applications. This service follows the Hire Cars and Limousines Regulations in Abu Dhabi, such as dealing with licensed cars and licensed drivers under the supervision of ITC”.

Careem in Abu Dhabi will also be welcoming the first Emirati captains and captainahs in the very near future, meaning more jobs for UAE nationals and ensuring that Careem is an even bigger part of the local community. “Abu Dhabi will be the first city to provide licenses for locals to use their own vehicles and drive with Careem which is a very exciting opportunity for us,” said Dutertre.
