Dubai, UAE, 01 December, 2008: Canon Middle East is unveiling two new additions to its PIXMA range of photo printers with the arrival of the PIXMA iP3600 and PIXMA iP4600. Both have a contemporary design and are aimed at users looking for exceptional print quality with increased functionality.
The PIXMA iP3600 and PIXMA iP4600 offer 9600x2400dpi resolution and utilise Canon's 1pl FINE print heads for the highest quality images and text documents. Both the PIXMA iP3600 and PIXMA iP4600 support Canon's new ChromaLife100+ system, which combines the FINE print head, the new dye-based inks and genuine Canon photo papers to create longer-lasting prints.
The PIXMA iP3600 and PIXMA iP4600 both benefit from five Single Inks (pigment black, dye black, cyan, magenta and yellow). These provide superb colour reproduction and, as only the ink tank that has run out requires replacing, they offer great efficiency.
Photolab-quality print speeds are impressive, with 10x15cm borderless prints available from the PIXMA iP4600 in approximately 20 seconds and from the PIXMA iP3600 in approximately 41 seconds. Both products include two paper trays, enabling increased paper capacity and allowing plain and photo paper to be loaded at the same time.
The PIXMA iP3600 and PIXMA iP4600 are PictBridge compatible for PC-less printing of photos from devices such as compatible mobile phones and digital cameras. The PIXMA iP4600 incorporates advanced media handling with DVD/CD printing on printable media and Auto Duplex function for double-sided printing.
Image enhancing software
Easy-PhotoPrint EX software, for Windows and Mac operating systems, has been included with the PIXMA iP3600 and PIXMA iP4600. This software is simple and straightforward to use and enables the creation of calendars, albums and assorted artwork. One of its key features is Auto Photo Fix, which is used for automatic photo enhancement and now includes improved red-eye correction.

The PIXMA iP3600 and PIXMA iP4600 are bundled with the following software:
- Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX - fully integrated user-friendly software for photo printing and creative projects, such as calendars or photo albums. As well as assisting with options such as paper type selection and size, Easy-PhotoPrint EX includes the new Auto Photo Fix, which analyses your photo and automatically adopts the optimal correction based on whether it's a portrait or scene. Auto Photo Fix is an updated version of Auto Image Fix that also features automatic red-eye reduction with improved accuracy in detection.
CD-LabelPrint - simplifies the process of printing directly onto inkjet-printable CDs and DVDs (PIXMA iP4600 only).
Compatibility
The PIXMA iP3600 and PIXMA iP4600 are compatible with Windows Vista (32bit, 64bit), Windows XP (SP2), Windows 2000 Professional (SP4) and Mac OS X 10.3.9 to 10.5.
Technologies Explained
FINE
Canon's patented FINE semi-conductor manufacturing technique lies at the heart of its printer technology, creating print heads with exceptionally high nozzle count and density. This enables Canon printers to achieve market-leading print speeds and virtually grain-free, photolab-quality photo prints even in Standard mode.
ChromaLife100+
The enhanced ChromaLife100+ system achieves beautiful, long-lasting prints through a combination of Canon's FINE technology, genuine Canon photo papers and new dye-based inks. When stored in an album, over 100-year life is achieved with PT-101, PR-201, PP-201, SG-201 and GP-501. Additionally, 30-year light fastness and 20-year gas fastness is achieved with PT-101, PR-201 and
PP-201.
Single Inks
New Single Inks with new ink formulations benefit from expanded colour space when printing on PP-201, PR-201 and PT-101 in comparison to PR-101. The reduced height Single Ink tanks facilitate a more streamlined product design.
PT-101 and PR-201 photo papers
Canon has added to its range of genuine photo papers and now brings improved quality at lower price points. With a weight of 300g/m2, Photo Paper Pro Platinum
PT-101 becomes the flagship Canon glossy photo paper, while the 245 g/m2
Photo Paper Pro II PR-201 will replace the current PR-101. Both are available in A4 and 10x15cm sizes, and for larger size printers, in A3 and A3+ sizes.
Environmental features
Canon is committed to offering products with a reduced environmental impact, and its new PIXMA range upholds this through improvements in resource efficiency and design. Depending on the model, features like auto duplex and 2-in1/4-in-1 printing encourage paper-saving. A large amount of recyclable plastics are used during the manufacture of PIXMA printers, and the physical size of the product has been reduced by between TBC%, with packaging reduced by almost TBC%.
