June 19, 2013: Dubai's Bourn Hall Clinic will now provide preconception care at its 22,000 sq ft Jumeirah facility, in addition to fertility, infertility and IVF treatment. Led by an in-house preconception specialist and registered midwife, the clinic will offer individual consultations covering practical advice and support, as well as health checks for couples embarking on their journey towards parenthood.

According to Bourn Hall's preconception specialist Susannah Glasgow, ''the months leading up to conception can have a significant impact on the health of your child. If you are thinking about starting a family there are a number of physical and lifestyle factors that you and your partner can adapt in order to improve your chances of conception and give your child the best start in life. Preconception checks can also help determine any individual risk factors that may require patients to seek additional care during pregnancy.''

Consultations will involve a full health and lifestyle audit, taking into account any fertility issues and/or existing health conditions and, depending on the needs of the individual, services will include health checks (e.g. BMI, blood pressure, blood tests & genetic screens), nutritional and supplement advice, ovulation tracking and information about what to expect during pregnancy. Whether a patient is trying to conceive naturally, or looking to get the most out of their fertility treatment, the service will ensure they are fully prepared before and during pregnancy.

Bruno Rosset, Founder of Bourn Hall Clinic Dubai and Executive Director of Commercial Operations said: ''by developing our service offering within the clinic, as well as collaborating with a network of trusted local partners, our goal is to provide a wide range of holistic services related to patients' wellbeing both pre and post conception. Our priority has always been helping couples to realise their dreams of having a healthy baby and a happy family; we felt preconception care was a natural extension to the IVF treatments already offered at Bourn Hall.''

Bourn Hall is where IVF began when the world's first clinic was founded in Cambridge, UK by its inventors Professor Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe, two years after they pioneered the birth of the first child conceived using IVF in 1978. Bourn Hall has since developed most of the standard IVF protocols and procedures adopted across the globe.
