14 February 2017

As long-term partners and leading providers of innovative plastics solutions for the global wire and cable industry, Borouge and Borealis showcased their latest cutting-edge products for advanced insulation and cable protection applications at the Middle East Electricity 2017, with Borouge focusing on introducing its unique cross-linkable polyethylene (XLPE) solutions which gained the interest of cable manufacturers.

Held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 14-16 February 2017, the Middle East Electricity exhibition featured the participation of Borouge and Borealis in a joint stand where both companies demonstrated their latest innovations for energy and telecommunication cable applications.

As a testament to its continued commitment to the development of the wire and cable industry, Borouge highlighted its XLPE materials produced at the recently commissioned and state-of-the-art XLPE plant in Ruwais as part of the Borouge 3 plant. The first of its kind to be produced in the UAE using the same exact advanced Borlink™ technology platform as the Borealis plant in Stenungsund, Borouge’s XLPE grades are used to make plastic insulation materials for Low Voltage to High Voltage power cables. These compounds enable cable companies to manufacture quality end products in accordance with the highest industry standards.

“Our new XLPE materials have gained the interest of various power cable makers participating at the Middle East Electricity exhibition due to its reliability, strength and flexibility properties as the most unique XLPE compound that was produced under the world-renowned Borlink™ technology and for the first time outside Europe,” said Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President Regional MEAE, Borouge. “Borouge's Energy customers in the Middle East and Asia have already started to reap the significant benefits from the commercial availability of our Ruwais made XLPE grades, especially in terms of enhanced consistency, improved material supply and availability.”

Borouge’s and Borealis’ products have a long track record for cable production with about   50 years of experience in buried cables under the ground which makes it a unique achievement in the industry. Borouge also develops special innovative grades that are used inside homes to prevent the spread of fires and safeguard tenants.

“The Middle East Electricity exhibition provides Borouge with a key opportunity to engage our customers in the Middle East region, assess their needs and introduce them to our latest products tailored to meet the evolving needs of the global wire and cable industry,” said Roland Janssen, Vice President Marketing Centre Energy, Borouge. “We will continue to provide the local and regional markets with sustainable solutions that create value through their optimal processing characteristics, minimal maintenance requirements, lower installation costs, longer product lifetimes and increased safety.”
