BNS, Asia's leading IPTV technology and content solutions provider, has launched an innovative Scan-Pen multimedia solution designed to open new revenue streams and enhance customer loyalty for telco, hospitality and catalogue shopping operators.
The solution will be on show for the first time at the IPTV World Forum Middle East & Africa, which will be held in Dubai on 3 and 4 November.
Based on innovative technology combining sophisticated invisible dot-code printing, infra-red sensors and IPTV technology, the Scan-Pen is an online ordering system that converges the convenience of printed information materials with the information-rich multimedia experience of the online world.
The Scan-Pen is designed to enhance the service offerings of Telco IPTV operators, hotel and Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) owners and catalogue shopping companies who can apply the Scan-Pen to many applications, including in-room dining, VOD, Karaoke and mail ordering.
Telco IPTV operators in particular will benefit from the Scan-Pen's ability to tCommerce services through the remote control to make their service truly interactive and more profitable.
"This solution is a real differentiator in many very competitive areas," said Anke Gill, vice president of marketing at BNS. "Aside from delivering greater convenience for customers, the Scan-Pen multimedia concept really brings a service to life. For example, a video of a piece of
clothing being worn on a runway will improve dramatically viewers' perception of whether it will be the right item for them."
The Scan-Pen is part of BNS' turnkey IPTV technology solution but can also be installed as a stand alone solution in existing IPTV systems and other management systems.
BNS will showcase the Scan-Pen along with its portfolio of IPTV solution at the IPTV World Forum Middle East & Africa in Dubai from 3 - 4 November and at InfoComm from 19 - 21 November in Hong Kong.
