Cairo - The Central Bank of Egypt approved the appointment of Mohamed Sherif, Finance Director of Barclays Bank Egypt, as an executive board director representing Barclays PLC. Barclays Board of Directors, chaired by Omar Elsayeh, is now complete.

The appointment came due to Sherif's track record in Barclays. Mohamed has just made his move in September to be Barclays Finance Director following the robust achievements he has made during a three-year successful tenure heading the Operational Risk and Control Rigour.

Sherif has started off his career in 1998 as an auditor at KPMG Hazem Hassan after receiving a Bachelor of Commerce from Cairo University majoring in accounting (English section).  Sherif then moved to be the Regional Internal Auditor at the Arab Bank plc and has later on pursued many other leading posts in CitiBank.

Mohamed completed his MBA from the German University in Cairo, wherein his thesis was based around the role of corporate governance in improving the bank's performance and its risk management. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
