* First GDS provider in Egypt to introduce direct benefit to traveller
* Travel agencies can offer the service via the new Amadeus Itinerary and more solution, installed at no charge for Amadeus clients
Amadeus Egypt, the leading transaction processor and provider of advanced technology solutions for the travel and tourism industry, in collaboration with Visa and Travel Guard Chartis today announced a new complimentary service for travelers in Egypt that insures their checked-in baggage against delay.
As part of the deal, passengers booking their airline tickets through travel agencies using an Amadeus GDS system will receive complimentary reimbursement up to 100 Euros from Travel Guard Chartis Insurance should their baggage be delayed or misdirected by the carrier for more than four hours.
Travel agents will be able to provide the new service by simply installing the new Amadeus Itinerary and More solution, sponsored by Visa, and available to them at no cost. The Amadeus Itinerary and More solution is designed to facilitate the production of custom designed itineraries and e-tickets that are in line with a travel agency's corporate branding and policies. Travelers receive documents created that are easy-to-read, with detailed display of their itinerary including flight information, baggage, seat number, check-in time, stopover points, meals and also displays a five day weather forecast for the requested destination.
Moudy Maguid, General Manager of Amadeus Egypt, said: "Traveling abroad can be a great experience, but in order to avoid any difficulties, one of the essential things to do is insure your baggage. Amadeus is pleased to be the first GDS provider in the country to offer such a useful benefit to travelers at absolutely no charge. We urge travelers to speak to their travel agents and ensure their tickets are being booked via Amadeus and entail the benefit of not only complimentary baggage protection but a clear and user-friendly itinerary too."
Tarek Elhousseiny, General Manager, Visa North and West Africa, "Visa's collaboration with Amadeus and More Solution is just one part of our engagements with tour operators and the tourism industry, in which we seek to enhance Egyptians' travel experience and to give peace of mind to business travelers. The Travel and Tourism industry is a springboard for the economy and we believe such initiatives will serve to materially enhance the convenience of travelers."
Michael Jensen, General Manager, Chartis Egypt Insurance, added: "Chartis is pleased to be associated with Amadeus in providing this new service for travelers. We have been operating for more than 10 years in the Egyptian market proudly, providing outstanding services to more than 60 per cent of Egyptian travelers.
