Innovative leading oilfield services provider, AlMansoori Specialized Engineering, has officially launched the first revolutionary light weight air-conditioned offshore slickline units which are set to make a major impact on the international oil and gas industry.
The units were unveiled at a special event held at AlMansoori's Mussafa base yard in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on Tuesday (September 27) attended by more than 100 senior representatives from the oil and gas world.
Specially created in aluminium and weighing less than 3,000 lbs, the two-man units are the first in the world to be portable by helicopter, thus overcoming the traditional problem of fast and flexible delivery. The units are also air-conditioned and pressurised to ensure a comfortable working environment in some of the industry's most harsh weather conditions.
The three units, which have a zone 2 fire safety rating, were custom-designed and built in Abu Dhabi by Lee Specialties Middle East. They have been commissioned by Total Abu Al Bukhoosh for its Abu AL Bukhoosh oilfield offshore UAE but are attracting interest from other companies globally, especially the Asian market.
Ahmad Jaber, general manager of AlMansoori Wireline Services, a subsidiary of AlMansoori Specialized Engineering, said: "We believe we have created a product which will have a major impact on the oil and gas industry, providing a rapid response to client needs and improving working conditions.
"Historically, the industry has had a major problem in delivering steel offshore wireline units to locations quickly because of their considerable weight. They have also taken no account of the humidity and heat that workers have had to endure. At one stroke we have provided answers to both these issues which should in turn lead to improved productivity."
