First school to use the Alef Platform in New York City will be on 1st Oct 2018

New York, USA – Alef Education, creator of the world’s first artificial intelligence-powered, transformational technology-enabled education solution, and the USA-based NexGen Education, signed a distribution agreement for the implementation of Alef’s revolutionary education system across the United States of America. It is envisaged that the first two schools will be part of The Harlem Children’s Zone schools in New York, and they will use the Alef platform on 1st of October 2018. The agreement was signed in New York, by Geoffrey Alphonso, CEO of Alef Education and Hanut Singh, CEO of NexGen Education, in the presence of Jassim Alseddiqi board director of Alef Education, Dr. Saleh Al Hashemi CEO of Algorythma, and Geoffrey Canada, the Founder and President of the Harlem Children’s Zone in Harlem, New York.

Alef’s large and diverse team of international experts designed a complete end-to-end content that carefully interweaves skills, character and knowledge. The content is grounded in the latest learning science research and is outlined in such a way that it encourages students to be explorative, creative and focus on self-learning and independent thinking, all by making creative thought the most important goal. Students will be enabled to progressively develop more responsibility for their learning and can offer an environment that is relatively judgment-free.

The agreement signals the importance of closer collaboration in education to effectively exploit joint synergies to enhance efficiency for the benefit of the students. The partnership is also in keeping with Alef’s objective to overhaul the status quo to usher in a new paradigm in education by means of a holistic technology based and AI-powered educational model. It is the culmination of an extensive process of collaborative curriculum planning and design by Alef Education to create a digital education delivered through advanced technology. The educational design uses concepts such as thematic interdisciplinary learning, which encourages learning through experience and experiment. Its design adopts natural language processing, advanced data science, and technology-enhanced content, to deliver a system that engages students and encourages self-learning, with the aim of equipping them with the skills necessary to successfully navigate the world of the future.

About The Harlem Children’s Zone®

The Harlem Children’s Zone® has always been driven by the belief that the success of our children and the strength of the community go hand in hand. Their needs are inseparable and must be addressed together in order to break the cycle of generational poverty and give our kids a real shot at the American dream.

Aimed at providing comprehensive, critical support to children and families and reweaving the very fabric of community life, the HCZ® Project began as a one-block pilot in the 1990s. With bold ambition, careful planning, and a strong infrastructure, we set out to address not just some but all of the issues children and families were facing within a finite geographic area: crumbling apartments, rampant drug use, failing schools, violent crime, and chronic health problems.

Building on the success of this early initiative, we launched a 10-year strategic plan in 2000, steadily and systematically expanding the depth and breadth of our programming to encompass 24 blocks, then 60 blocks, and ultimately 97 blocks. Today, the Children’s Zone® serves more than 10,000 youth and nearly 10,000 adults and our organization as a whole serve over 12,509 youth and 12,498 adults.

With thousands of young people well on their way to achieving the ultimate goal of college graduation, we have not only reached the tipping point, but also have become a national model and thought leader in the fields of education, youth and community development, and the fight against poverty.
