- Landmark Partnership between Al Salam Community School and Bin Haidar Education
- Al Salam Community School will build on the legacy of Al Salam Private School and provide exceptional education at an accessible price.
One of Dubai’s landmark schools is set to open its second campus in September, 2019 and grow its exceptional brand of high quality, accessible education. Al Salam Private School has a long and established history of serving families in Dubai and has operated for almost three decades. The family-run school has offered an exceptional education at an affordable price in its existing campus and has formed a unique partnership with Bin Haidar Education, a subsidiary of the Mohamed Omar Bin Haidar Group (MOBH) to build a second campus.
The new School branch in Al Twar will operate from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 13 from its first year of operations.
Al Salam Private School has consistently been at the top of Dubai’s results for some time and the high academic performance of their students has always been a distinguishing feature of the existing school which they hope to embed in their new campus.
The Founder, Ms Susan Johnston, named as one the UAE’s Education Influencer’s by Which School Advisor in 2015 commented on their expansion plans “People have been asking us to open a second school for over ten years, as we’ve always lived by our motto “The best for every child” and we’re delighted that we’re now able to do this through our partnership with Bin Haider Education.” Bin Haidar Education are investing in the school building and have formed a long term agreement to be Al Salam’s property partner. The Group has a long vision to invest in education and see Al Salam Community School as the ideal partner to align its values to. Commenting on the launch of the School, the Hon. Chairman of MOBH, Mohammad Omar Bin Haider said “Al Salam Private School has provided high quality, yet accessible education for decades to the Dubai community, and our values align with theirs. When they approached us to partner on their second school, it was a very easy decision, and we’re delighted to be building a new campus with a range of new facilities for them, and for wider community. We recognise that education is the foundation of society, and Bin Haidar Education will make a significant contribution to the community of Dubai, and the UAE at large.” PRESS RELEASE
The new school will feature a UAE Heritage Centre, a 25-metre, 6 lane swimming pool, sports pitches, specialist science and technology rooms, an innovation hub, and multiple, flexible learning spaces. The Al Salam team is driven to build on their world class achievements, and supplement their curriculum innovations, with modern and accessible facilities. The UAE’s Vision 2021 National Agenda focusses on achievements in international tests such as The Trends in Mathematics and Science Study, or (TIMSS) and the UAE’s aim is be ranked in the top fifteen countries for TIMSS by 2021. Al Salam Private School has been at the forefront of this, and in the Grade 8 results in 2015, they came second in the UAE with an impressive 600 for maths and 620 for science. This achievement is testament to their focus on quality but also equally impressive, as their average fee of 23,000 AED is significantly lower than the other schools in the top 5. Historically, the results in the school have been consistently outstanding with GCSE results of A*-C averaging 99.6% from 2009 to 2016 inclusive, compared to a UK average of 68.5%. A*-A grades have averaged 69.2% over the same time period; compared to a UK average of 21.5 Taher Gharib is the Chair of the Board of Governors at Al Salam and has been instrumental in developing the plans for the second school. Taher’s vision for Al Salam Community School is to be leading school for innovation, enterprise, and Islamic Values. Speaking about the launch, Taher commented “The team is moving full speed ahead with our plans, and we’re all focussed on September, 2019. Our partnership with Bin Haidar Education has blossomed and we are very excited to provide outstanding facilities to complement our enhanced curriculum.” The expansion of Al Salam’s brand of education is a landmark achievement for the sector in Dubai, as no other stand-alone school, with an average of fee of 23,000 AED, has expanded to open a second campus in the previous five years.
