An Airbus A310 aircraft joined Royal Jordanian's cargo fleet, after it was transformed from a passenger aircraft into a freighter in a specialized center in Dresden in Germany.
This decision was taken in accordance with Royal Jordanian's service development and fleet modernization plans. The two Boeing 707 freighters were sold, so as to replace them by two Airbus A310's. The second A310 will join Royal Jordanian's cargo fleet by the end of this year.
The Airbus A310 is a long haul aircraft that can fly for 7 hours nonstop, with a holding capacity of 40 tones of cargo.
Royal Jordanian is one of the pioneering airlines to use the A310 aircraft as freighters to enable it to add more cargo destinations to its route map, like London, Colombo, Hong Kong, in addition to the existing regular cargo flights to Maastricht, Dubai, Istanbul, and Delhi.
