ADU will begin launching the Master of Human Resources Management Program (MHRM) in the upcoming semester (Spring 08-09) at its Al Ain campus after receiving accreditation from the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This program is intended to benefit a significant number of executive managers who are interested in continuing their advanced professional degree in Human Resource Management in Al Ain and the surrounding communities.
On the launch of the program, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, the Chancellor of ADU, noted the significance of offering MHRM Degree at Al Ain after its successful launch at Abu Dhabi campus, which attracted a high number of qualified executive managers from different sectors. Noting that success, Dr. Ibrahim added that the accreditation received from the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is due to the program's excellent curriculum which meets international standards. The benefit from a pool of well-qualified faculty who are world-renowned academic leaders, modern and up-to-date facilities, and the availability of scientific infrastructure that supports the program are among the features that distinguish ADU - MHRM.
Dr. Nabil also noted that offering this program at Al Ain Campus concurs with the strategic direction of the University's Board of Trustees by increasing the University's Postgraduate Programs that meet the needs of researchers and executive managers in UAE's business sectors.
Dr. Yosser Gadhoum, Dean of the College of Research and Graduate Studies announced that the expansion of the postgraduate programs in Al Ain is the implementation of the strategic direction of the University's Board of Trustees and a commitment of ADU towards meeting the advanced education needs of working professionals living and working in Al Ain, and added that the campus now has the dedicated facilities to offer such program. He also noted that the program aims to produce graduates who will be prepared to advance into top managerial positions in Human Resources in both the private and public sectors of economy. The program has also been designed to meet the specific needs of the UAE in this field.
The Information Session to announce the launch of the MHRM was presented by Dr. Ali Azad, the Director of Al Ain Campus. The event was held at Al Ain Rotana on February 2, 2009, and attended by approximately 85 prospective candidates who are interested in joining the program at Al Ain campus. In his opening remarks, Dr. Azad noted that MHRM is the third postgraduate degree program that is being launched at Al Ain Campus in the past few months.
Dr. Azad noted that the MHRM at ADU consists of 8 courses (24 credit hours) of coursework which covers a variety of Central Issues in Human Resources Management, Organization Theory and Design, International Human Resource Management, Compensation and Employment Relations, Human Resources Productivity, Human Resources Strategy, as well as, some fundamental topics in management. He further added that the regular admission requirements for MHRM program include an undergraduate degree in a business related field, a CGPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0 point scale or its established equivalent), and a minimum English proficiency in internationally standardized test of English, such as TOEFL and IELTS, while conditional/provisional admission can be given to candidates in accordance with the rules established by the Commission on Academic Accreditation.
Dr. Mohammad Khalifa, Dean College of Business Administration announced that admission applications to the program are being accepted and the deadline for submitting application will be February 10, and the classes set to begin on February 15, 2009. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa added that the tuition fees for the whole program would be around AED 55,000, and students will be able to complete the program in one year.
