The step is completed as part of the Municipality's transition to integrated e-services

Abu Dhabi City Municipality - The Abu Dhabi City Municipality announced the completion of upgrading of works related to survey data, drawings, and certificates such that all procedures relating to site survey will now be available online. The achievement is a testament to the Municipality's endeavours to deliver advanced services catering to the requirements of sustainable development.

HE Musabbah Mubarak Al Murar, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi City Municipality, said: "This project stems from the Municipal System's keenness to accomplish the electronic transition of all transactions and services in keeping up with the expectations of customers and community members.

"The handheld computer system will enable the offering all data of field surveys aims at sharing data between the office and the field (construction or project site); which will enhance the odds of delivering quality services to the public as a result of allocating more time to the field survey by the surveyor, and accordingly expediting the processing of transactions and increase productivity as well," added Al Murar.

The importance of the project is marked by the automation of the survey works through dispatching survey transactions to surveyors at site online using the existing communication systems. Following the completion of the transaction by the surveyor, the transaction is referred to the survey data auditor at the office for validating & verifying details. It is possible to collect the signatures of those concerned with taking-over sites online directly on the approved certificates. Such a step will reflect positively on customers satisfaction as it involves shorter transaction processing time, and increases the accuracy & quality of the final deliverable in addition to other positives such reducing visits of customers to the Head Office of the Municipality, which will accordingly contribute to reducing traffic congestion.

As far as the new developments relating to the field survey through the online system, the Municipality states that work is currently underway in obtaining the signatures of personnel with concerned with taking-over corners of the plot at site. In this regard the Municipality is seeking to upgrade the system by adding new services relating to exchanging data, information, drawings and certificates between the office and the field online, obtaining the signatures of contractors & consultants at sites online, handling various survey transactions online, slashing paper transactions by at least 90%, increasing the time spend on field work by at least 45%, cutting short the number of visitors to the Head Office of the Municipality, increasing the quality & efficiency, reducing error margin, and reducing the time wasted in emergency works where the surveyor can directly head to the site instead of coming back to the office to get information and data.

The idea of online messaging between the office and the site hinges on the benefits of modern technologies currently available in terms of communication systems and high-efficiency computers which will redress the shortcomings associated with conventional methods in processing daily transactions. Accordingly, the Municipality has charted out specifications of the project with the aim of minimizing the time wasted in preparing daily transactions by surveyors at the start of the day, and at the end of the day. The field information is thus prepared by a Quality Officer and sent by e-mail to the surveyor, who will process and dispatch the transaction to the Office for auditing and signing off the job.
